It could be as simple as your skin getting very dry from the low fat diet, but mention it to your GP in case it's linked to the gallstones
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Yes, I know it's not a nice subject, but for about a fortnight I've been itching like mad. Legs, arms, belly, head, you name it. Fortunately not all at the same time.

My sheets are changed fortnightly, and my clothes every two days after bathing. I'm not using new detergent or soap.

The only thing I have changed recently is my diet. I have gallstones, so have to have a low fat diet. I'm now on skimmed milk & for meat, I can only eat chicken or fish, so have one or the other every night. I never used to eat these much previously. (Maybe once a week each.)

Although I buy my chicken & fish from Waitrose, I wonder if there are some chemicals in them that I am now getting a lot more of.

    Any thoughts?

One idea springs to mind jk0. Bear with me... When you say you've not using new detergent or soap, are you using the same bottle/pack as previously? If you've bought a new bottle/pack even if it looks the same there may be a subtle change in the ingredients, like a preservative, that you're allergic to.

Alternatively are you not getting enough fat in your diet and its preventing you from absorbing all the right vitamins and minerals from your food? When you say you're on a low fat diet does that apply to all fats, or would some of the 'healthy' ones be allowed? I know this link is not from a medical journal but I found it made interesting reading: http://www.dietdoctor.com/gallstones-and-low-carb

Good luck in your quest to find a solution.

For the gallstone/liver people who are itching, it may be wise to see your GP.

Look up gallstones and pruritis. The two may be connected and need further investigation.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

Have you talked to your GP? Unexplained itching can be a symptom of liver problems.
  • So sorry for your loss, Kittie.
