I never thought it would be restricted to just two banks. It now appears that it is now happening to all four big Greek banks.

If Greece exits the Euro expect problems in Spain, Italy and France. France has big loans across the periphery which may not be recovered and that will expose French banks as exceptionally vulnerable. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
This wonderfully puts the real risks from terrorism into place.

Difficult to know just what to think sometimes. At my age (ie 60s) I am struggling to remember Normal Times (ie when there wasn't a terrorist threat of some description or other). My memories go back as far as when the IRA were the terrorist threat at one time.
Striking me that there would appear to be some similarities between then and now (ie "guess who started it?").
I guess its a case of "reasonable adjustments" and then get on with life, ie I've figured out places in my own mind I think the "latest lot" might go for and I just avoid them at "times most likely imo". Apart from that, get on with life and expect my Society to leave "yer ordinary person in the street" with as much privacy as I've come up to expect for myself.
Right now, one large win later and I'd still swop house again (ie back to Home Area - which I left because I couldn't afford our own next stage houses). That, when New Area is most certainly not going to attract any terrorist attack any time this century, but my Home Area isn't a "safe" one.:mad:0 -

Thanks Frugalsod.
Made me laugh that I am more likely to be killed by auto-erotic asphyxiation than by terrorism. Since that is impossible due to not indulging in such practices, I think I'm pretty safe from terrorism.
BTW, did anyone watch that long video right to the end?

The point made was that the risk of terrorism was purely invented so that the public would give government more power.0 -

Having set Little Nipper mouse traps with peanut butter on Wednesday night, next morning they had eaten the lot, tripped the trap, and scarpered.
OH was getting anxious by now, so I called a local pest control expert, who came in within a few hours and set some tougher looking traps (plastic, American design) again behind the kickboards in the kitchen. He reckons we have a small problem (!), not an infestation by any means. He also gave advice on rat problem (this is in the garden, thank goodness, and under control), and only charged us £4 - what a difference from the council charge, would have been £90.
Traps are undisturbed at present, Doggie has been calm, and I think blocking the entrances has done the trick.
Thanks for all advice.0 -
Here's an odd one:
Back in 2000 I bought one of the first Orange PAYG phones & SIM where the credit lasts for ever.
A few years ago I bought a Land Rover tough phone, and transferred the SIM to it. Now I rarely even have the phone on, but it's handy for emergencies.
It used to work fine all round Reading & London. However, I get the impression the provider has been reducing the signal to persuade me to change my plan. Here in my house it now only connects when it is jammed in my the top of my 1st floor bay window. Everywhere else in Reading it's a dead loss.
Yesterday I tried it in London, and again it didn't work at all in a house where it used to be fine.
(It's the same when I put the SIM back in the 2000 mobile.)
I am so fed up with this, I just bought a Sainsbury's SIM, and that works brilliantly. I am annoyed though, because my Orange Broadband is £5 per month cheaper because I have an Orange phone.
Has anyone else found coverage disappearing? Am I correct in my suspicions?
Okay, well looks like I was correct. The new Orange SIM works fine in my house. There are also some different symbols which come up on the phone, as I guess this SIM is 3G rather than 2G.
I'm sure that if I made an issue of it, that would be the excuse.
I wonder if I transfer my 2G phone number to the 3G SIM, will I keep my credit, or is that now lost?0
