  • Did a bit of cupboard sorting earlier today.

Put a couple of bathrobes on the bed, with a view to putting them in the washer.

Just poked my head in the bedroom, and guess who is fast asleep on top of them? :)

So glad I don't live in the 'Land of the Free':

However, how long before Nobsore thinks that sounds like a good idea and copies it?

If you add that to the thefts by the US police under civil forfeiture it makes you wonder why people even bother trying to save or buy anything?
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

When people have very little, they are easier to control. The converse of this is people may start to think "Well, we have nothing to lose" when pushed too far. Then things will start to get decidedly iffy.:(

Not seen Mar on the board lately either, hope she's not having a flare up.

Just reading a book about the big freeze in Ireland in 1947. Due to bad summer weather, food was short and the turves for fuel were sodden and not collected in.This led to Ireland being totally unable to cope with the worst winter in many years. The government did not shine to say the least.

Got some more water in this weekend and a bottle of Milton to add to the preps.
Not dim ;) .....just living in soft focus :p

:( I read that on ZH too.

Stealing from the citizenry without even the pretext of drafting taxation laws or waiting until you've convicted them of something is the ultimate admission of a failed state. It's something which dictators and their bully boys do when they have no fear of the rule of law.

Poor old US-ers, they're going down the tubes fast, with us hanging on their coat tails. We will have to follow another ZH meme and start having 'boating accidents' with hard assets aboard.

One thing I notice from newspaper reports of raids on homes here (local papers, not matters of national noteworthiness) is that sums in cash are being taken by the police as if there could never be a legitimate reason for having a wad of used twenties in your possession.........

Going back to the original article, it seems to me that legit cash-only businessess might as well invest in a few safes, at home and at their premises, and not bother banking their takings at all. After all, if the robbers have access to the bank account, why leave cash on deposit?

Which brings my mind back to my own 'umble financial affairs. My big DDs should have left the account now and I shall go and remove some of the folding stuff, out of sheer perversity.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I was agreeing with doveling's last comment, in case people were confused :)
  • Both are on their last legs.

I don't think either will see the week out.

I'm amazed the Aldi Lantern is still lit.
