When people have very little, they are easier to control. The converse of this is people may start to think "Well, we have nothing to lose" when pushed too far. Then things will start to get decidedly iffy.:(
I tend to agree with the "if they have nothing to lose"...courtesy of several spells of unemployment back years ago now. I recall being absolutely astonished and furious the first time, livid the second time and straight through the roof the third time. I think its easy to literally "blow your top" if the gap between your reasonable expectations/how you KNOW of a certainty Life Is and how your own personal little life is being experienced by you has turned into yawning chasm wide.
If it had happened again and, bearing in mind, I'm from a family that have been home-owners for several generations now (on my mothers side) and I still hadn't been able to buy my starter house (I was in my 30s!!!) then it would have been "nothing left to lose"/right the Government gets it mood I'm sure.
************
My other thought being that if you keep stashes of (perfectly legitimately obtained) cash at home perhaps part of the preps if the Government started literally grabbing it would be to keep matches to hand by it. It wouldn't help you hold onto your own cash, but at least they wouldn't get to have it either....as you suddenly had a burning desire to check out your matches were still working on the nearest pile of paper to hand.0 -
It started raining here, about half an hour ago.
It's getting heavier, and the clouds are low and dense.0 -

It's getting heavier, and the clouds are low and dense. That's because you live Ooop North. Cloudless, sunny and shirtsleeve weather around here. Amazingly warm.

Grrrr. Sitting here working on yet more stuff for our solicitor to send to their solicitor - more endless boring, petty points and huge expense, all because a little lying fraudulent !!!!!! tried to steal an idea off my OH. We have the CID coming round tomorrow, so hopefully that side of it will give them a bit more of a wobble. What has been done carries - as far as I can gather - the possibility of 2 to 4 years in prison. Here's hoping! This makes me so very, very, angry - what a waste of time and money for us. The sky is dark here too (literally, as well as metaphorically!) and there's a weird warm wind getting up as well. Very odd. Ah well, sorry for the rant, feeling very tetchy indeed this afternoon, as I have spent all day filing, printing and sorting our paperwork.0

Fighting for justice alone is seething material. To fight for justice and it be costing you to do so must be soul destroying. I hope the sniff of a criminal case is enough to get this charlatan to back down. Awful situation the cake0
