The Scots weather forums are predicting dire weather tomorrow for me, Bertha to turn round and really get stuck into north & east Scotland. O joy.

I see that from the weather charts as well Mardatha. It is going to swirl round on itself as the ex hurricane still has an ''eye''. There are stronger storms within it as well. Going to send a warning to my sister, although the Scots weather forums are doing a better job than some of the UK ones at the moment. Hope you have lots of tea and biscuits ready!0 -
Been persisting down all morning here sometimes really heavy followed by light fine showers.
Still the garden needs a good soaking and the aquifers need to fill up.

Glad to have been of help. You set me off thinking about this winter, we get quite bad storms here in Greece and I think I need to consider getting some waterproof clothes sorted out before the storms start. Especially if we have a fuel shortage and have to ride my scooter to save petrol! I have some good solid leather boots with rubber soles (non slip on the marble pavements in the winter) but will need some water proofs to go with them. I also need a pair of warm lined leather gloves to wear on the scooter as your hands get frozen , especially if the weather is damp.

Weather Watch UK

The rest of today will see sunny spells and scattered blustery showers across Ireland, Wales, Isle of Wight and Central and Southern England. The squall line across eastern parts of England, bringing gusty winds, heavy rain, thunder, lightning and hail, will clear eastward through Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, East Anglia and South East England over the next few hours. Showers well scattered so some places may stay dry for the rest of the day, but should you catch any showers they may be heavy, blustery and thundery.
Longer spells of rain will continue to affect Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Northern England, Scotland, the Western Isles and the Northern Isles, although Northern parts of England and the Isle of Man may see some dry and brighter weather for a time before rain returns later, whilst Northern Ireland should gradually turn drier from the west, although here there will still be the risk of some showers here.
It will stay windy across central and southern parts of both England and Wales and the Isle of Wight. Northern England, Isle of Man, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, the Western Isles and the Northern Isles, which have so far seen largely light winds, will see winds strengthening through the rest of today. The strongest winds are likely around coastal areas but inland isolated damaging gusts are possible, especially during some of the heaviest showers. North East England and Eastern Scotland are also likely to see some of the strongest winds developing during the rest of Sunday into Monday.0 -

MAR DD says you are a woman after her own heart and have impeccable taste when it comes to stocking provisions for very bad weather, in fact she says if it's Chelsea buns AND jelly babies, please can she come and live with you?0

Interesting recipe for home made Chelsea buns - can't remember where from, probably from an MSE forum as that's where all the best ideas come from!
Make bread dough and roll out into a rectangle. Spread with lemon curd then sprinkle over dried fruit, brown sugar and cinnamon (make up your own quantities here!) then roll up the rectangle to make a Swiss roll shape. Cut into slices, place on greased baking tray then bake in the oven. Can't remember what temperature or how long for, but come on, we're all MSE'ers here and can play around with a recipe, can't we? I know you don't overcook them as they become too chewy, but when done just right they are luvverly! Dust with icing sugar or ice with glace icing when cool. One life - your life - live it!0
