Why would it bother them, if he's paying more that C&C prices?
Most Aldi prices are well below C&C prices - most supermarkets are below C&C prices.
What they are bothered about is empty shelves for the customers that shop there every day.
Incidentally I have regularly bought several trays of bread, beans, tomatoes and orange juice from a local Aldi with never an adverse comment. (Supplies for local hotel).0 -
Does it mean that I am a national threat if I buy my usual tray of 12 cans of baked beans in Lidl??? I'm only a little old grey haired lady (well that's debatable!) what on earth do TPTB think I'm going to get up to with them that could threaten the nation???0

I've never bought trays (plural), but I often buy a full tray each of beans and spaghetti (20 cans per tray), and potatoes, carrots, peas and fruit salad (12 cans per tray), and have never been challenged.
Likewise, I buy a full box (48 packets) of ASDA instant noodles.
Also, a tray of 6 jars of jam, a tray of 6 jars of lemon curd, a tray of 6 bottles of brown sauce, and a tray of 6 bottles of tomato ketchup.0 -

Damned if you don't, damned if you do.
There's always been some serious inconsistencies in US law (not saying UK law is much better) but preppers have increasingly become a target for US authorities - I suspect there is someone in the hierarchy who really doesn't see any difference between survivalists, preppers and militias and probably sees LDS members as legitimate targets as well.
Given the popularity of Costco and Sam's Club among others, bulk buying is far more prevalent in the USA than it is in the UK, not to mention canning produce, unless the Government has decided to target a substantial part of its population then this is likely to be a non starter in terms of useful data.
If you look on Youtube you will see all the types you mentioned. I look at a number of prepping channels but ignore the weapons primarily because I am not intending cause trouble see no interest in them. I have watched a far few dehydration clips because of the benefits for camping, same with some of the bushcraft videos. I guess once I am ready to get a dehydrator and canner I will increase my viewing of those types when I am ready to invest in a canner and dehydrator. These are all perfectly legal ways of making ends meet. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

Someone linked to this on PP yesterday:
This is interesting for Americans, and also for Brits regarding the meaning of guilty/ not guilty:
