UK Warnings
Weather Warning
Issued by the Met Office
Monday 28th July
YELLOW WARNING for RAIN
Heavy thundery showers are expected across parts of East Anglia and southeast England, including the London area, at times on Monday.
Isolated thundery downpours are now developing over East Anglia, extending further north into Norfolk, thus the extension to the warning area. These will become more widespread across East Anglia and southeast England by morning, dying out for a time later in the morning, before further isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms develop again in the afternoon. There is also a risk of heavy rain affecting the far southeast at times later today and into Monday night.
The public should be aware of the risk of localised flooding, especially if the downpours affect urban areas.
Valid 0310on Monday 28th July until 2345.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
Apparently they have changed the recipe for Bailey's and it is no longer considered gluten free......
We had a terrible storm here in Corfu this morning and it struck a house in the North and burned out the second floor. All houses in the area have no electric, phones or internet, it has wiped them all out. We saw the storm but missed it as we were in Town rather than the North, which got torrential rain. I feel sorry for the tourists as they were not predicted to hit till Thursday. This has been a very strange summer for us and difficult to predict what will come next.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -

I can see them in Blacks now, phoning the hotline if someone buys more than an average amount camping equipment. Or in Tescos when you buy 6 months worth of loo roll and tinned tomatoes.0 -
Temperature on its way up again.
My LR is already at 75f.0 -

The art of storing for prepping is NOT to go and buy in bulk but to buy an item once a week or whenever you shop and do the stores building little by little, it's surprising how quickly you accumulate a nice little stash and it isn't obvious to anyone what you've got in store. It's human nature to take advantage of special offers too, just don't buy the whole shelf full, get half a dozen of whatever it is and no one will think anything of it. Little and often, that's how to build a good store cupboard.0

It was on the BBC (so it must be true
).
Purple WIFI is going to offer free wifi to York. The price to pay is you give up your data when signed in. According to the programme - quite a lot of data.

It's worth watching a re-run of the Click episode

Scary stuff imo. But I bet a lot of people just go along with it. After all it's free.0 -

I am screwed then. My next order with Tesco is looking to have a years supply of toilet paper in it but that is because I have managed to limit my online orders to none this year. My last online order was in November. I get most of my food locally, as and when needed. Though I do have a very small freezer section. I make my own cleaning products as they are cheaper and just as good. So my needs for branded goods is shrinking considerably.
I am planning a couple of road trip some years away in the US to visit nearly all the mainland National Parks except the Everglades and Hot Springs Arkansas. I will be buying loads of dehydrated meals for that in the local Walmart or REI, and any additional camping items I might have missed. So those will attract suspicion.
I was thinking of getting extra meals for any planned camping trips around Europe.
They are clearly worried about a new revolution. I doubt that much would change if there was a Republican president as the rest of their congress are bought and paid for by the very few donors so things for the masses will not improve. It was the collapse in the standard of living that provoked the Arab Spring. US living standards of living have been stagnant since 1979. Unless governments address that single issue then they will eventually there will be an American Spring and a European Spring.
Interestingly most preppers are not intending to overthrow the government here or there. The mobs will do that when they have been pushed too far. Preppers are in the main trying to limit the impact of the coming changes on them and their families. My changes are to lower the costs of living and by being less dependent on ready made products which are now getting lower and lower quality. Only early today a poster commented about the change in the Baileys recipe so it was no longer gluten free. They can all see that things are getting worse and governments are not even addressing the relevant problems so eventually there will be trouble but it could be many years.
So will I continue to prep? Of course! Am I a threat to the government? No the biggest threats are their own actions. Eventually too many people will feel excluded from any gains and then the revolts will start. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
