  • How about the fact that Sky News has just said oil has reached $150 per barrel this morning due to the problems in Iraq and Syria??? does that count as interesting GQ?

The solar kettle is getting used every sunny day possible. I can get two mugs of electricity free coffee every morning. The only problem is that it is only 500ml of water at a time.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

    :) I'd say so!

If I had a vehicle with space in its fuel tank, I'd be filling it up today. As it is, my bicycle is running on GQ-power and I can take my energy from a variety of sources.

Have been on the allotmentino. It's parched up there atm so took opportunity to get another coat of wood treatment onto the shed. Must protect my investment, a good shed with regular maintenance should see you out.

Tater tops are going floopy and sagging around the baulk. I have transplanted my shed-grown runners and added some more today. Nothing seems to have chewed on the ones which have been out since Friday, which is a minor miracle, although I won't rest easy until they're climbing well.

Onions are bulking up nicely and will be harvesting the first batch of broad beans for drying and the blackcurrants for the freezer in the next few days. I have also showed some weeds cold steel, with the wickedly-sharp little hoe which my Dad rather covets. I rasp the edge up with a carborundum stone after each use, so it's ready to behead the weeds. If you're going to do gardening, you don't want blunt tools.

I shall swoop by a Farmius Foodius this afternoon, after I have touched base with my shop-keeper friend. Good to know what's buying and selling in the curio trade. I have to keep moving in that shop in case someone mistakes me for the merchandise, lol.

Just popped on to say the water preps were a life saver yesterday as there was a power failure and when I got up yesterday there was no water

I need several cups of coffee to get me mobile in the mornings so luckily my water stash saved the day.

It was only off a couple of hours but that would have been two hours without a cuppa!
