I never thought of it that way!
My advice would be to, from now on, totally ignore them.
This will have two effects.
Firstly, you will get a monthly delivery of letters (aka Threat-O-Grams), which make hilarious reading (much more entertaining than most BBC programmes), and can be saved for posterior.
Secondly, after approx 6 months, the letters will be addressed to "The Current/Legal Occupier", ie. you will become an anonymous, unidentified person.
It's also advisable, to opt out of the Edited Electoral Register.
The less info BBC/TVL have on you, the less they can do to you.

This is not more on that specific link, but more on the same subject. This morning I received an email from the organisation 38 Degrees:
"It seems that private companies are helping to decide the future of the NHS.
A lobbying company working for some of the worlds biggest drugs and medical equipment companies was paid by NHS England to write an influential report. It’s claimed that the report could help shape the next five years of NHS strategy. [1]
The NHS is owned by all of us, but NHS England - the body that runs the NHS in England - doesn’t have to publish details of the lobbyists they meet with. If enough of us kick up a stink right away, we could force them to come clean about who’s deciding the future of our NHS. The people who run NHS England aren't used to having the spotlight on them.
Please can you sign the petition to demand that we can see who’s deciding the future of our NHS?
https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/NHS-lobbying-transparency"
I've signed and said I'd pass it on to others.
Here's The Independent's article http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/revealed-big-pharma-links-to-nhs-policy-with-senior-mps-saying-medical-industry-uses-wealth-to-influence-government-9120187.html
Thanks for the link. I've signed the petition.
The trouble is that since "Any Qualified Provider" was able to tender for contracts, privatisation is slowly but surely creeping in under this guise. A lot depends on the area you are in but there are companies who are tendering and can undercut the conventional ways of providing. My worry is that by the time patients sit up and take notice, the conventional providers will have disappeared and we are left with a substandard service. In addition, in my area, lots more things that used to happen in hospitals are now being pushed to already hard-pressed GPs. Whilst it may be good to get some treatments closer to home, if the situation deteriorates, there will be no going back and we will have lost the expertise that used to exist in Hospitals. I, personally, am very worried about the state of the Health Service.
I am a member of my surgery's Patient Participation Group and I would urge those of you who have an interest in the NHS and its future to get involved or support the group within your own Practice.0 -
I'm starting to feel hard done by here - in 10 + years of living in this flat, we have never had a tv licence, and only had one letter about 5 years ago, which was binned... Probably says a lot about the area that they cba to pursue the possibility that we might be watching TV without a licence. We aren't, but I'm not going out of my way to tell them that!Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

Likewise.
I twice lived without TV or license, three different addresses totaling about 10 years. Had one letter and visit during those times. Actually had more hassle from them since I went back to having a TV and license - unfortunately I was unable to persuade them to take me to court.0 -
The Wiz is a freelancer and was working away, returning home in the wee hours of Tues, and crashed in bed, then popped up to mine before going home to crash again, before going off early in the morning on Weds-Sun for more freelance work.
Rushes off to check soles of feet for rashes.
GQ, I had to read this twice before I realized I misinterpreted it, or have i just got a dirty mind? Bedsit Bob will be getting jealous.

If we are to get uncertainty in the power supply it might be time to not just think about lighting and heating but to run down fridge and freezer contents, buy in 2 large terracotta pots and some sand for a cool pot, make sure you have a means of cooking that uses an obtainable fuel and some kind of water purification system for the inevitable disruptions in supply to households that would happen if the drinking water supply is disrupted. Maybe look to increase the amount of bottled/stored water that you keep in before it happens. Most other things will be copeable with if uncomfortable. I'd really miss the ease of contact this computer gives me too, it would be a smaller and less companiable world.0

I only have a small fridge freezer, so not much to run down.
I have 22 cartridges of gas (enough for about 50 hours of continuous use on one stove) for my two stoves.
I have 50 Litres (10 days+) of stored drinking water, and 5 Litres of Sodium Hypochlorite solution (aka plain unscented bleach) for water sterilisation.
As for the computer, I have a small notebook, which I can run off the Jumper Pack, and a 3 Dongle which (assuming the mobile phone towers still work) will get me on t'internet.0
