Enough delighful nonsense, I must away to the allotmentino and make with the gardening. Pal's dropping by at 11 am to collect some strawberry plants and there are plenty of other things I shoudl be doing up there.

I'm not telling DH as there was one a few miles away from us that was sold a couple of years back and he still hasn't forgiven me for not letting him buy it! :rotfl:0

Greyqueen, you might want to ask your Mum to measure the little pan she got for you to make sure it's the right one.
In my Aldi the one egg pans in the pretty colours are £2.49 and are in a completely different display to the £3.49 pans in black only. The £2.49 pans are about 12cm diameter while the £3.49 pans, while small (they are labelled 'mini'), are quite a bit bigger, prob about 20cm diameter.
I got the diddy one egg pan in turquoise :-) Thanks Bedsit Bob for the heads-up, I have wanted one of these for a while.Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and adventure.Oliver Sachs 20150 -
I buy books for my local library and saw this when going through the lists of new publications. Apologies if you know all about it already, but I have to admit, its not an angle of fan hitting that I had previously thought of:

MrsLurcherwalker wrote: »Afternoon all, we decided to top prune our Silver Birch tree this afternoon, it's not even showing leaf buds at the moment, just the beginnings of catkins, but when we cut the first branch, fairly far up the trunk it started to bleed sap quite copiously. We'll have to leave it until the autumn or we'll kill it but it made me think that in a world where there was no sugar being produced we could use the birch sap, which is quite sweet, to make a sweetener by evaporating off som of the liquid and making a syrup the way that Maple Syrup is made traditionally. I've had a look in my foraging books and you can cut a plug from the trunk and tap the tree for its sap and then replace the plug and the tree will 'heal' itself and stop dripping. You can take a whole demijohn full of sap, round about a gallon without doing any damage to the tree. Might be worth putting that bit of knowledge under your hat for in the future?
The bark of Silver Birch also makes great tinder for making fires, and you do not have to harm the tree to get it.It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
forum change is afoot, bound to happen when Martin sold. Anyone else click on the link at the top? I don`t like it0

I've purposely avoided clicking in case I couldn't get back.
