Thinking of working on the personal one first ... Something that I can carry on me at all times

Pocket survival kits are available, pre-assembled.

I carry this one, albeit with a few additional/replacement items.

Thanks bedsit bob would just need to add a 50 ml bottle of water plus dispersable aspirin to that and I would be good to go :-)

I think it's bat boxes ... Although not sure as I have my blue blockers on whilst waiting to fall asleep

Generally I it's an owl box it will be rectangle ( on it's side so long bit going up the way) with a medium sized hole just less than 3/4 of the way up for the owls to get in etc

Bat boxes tend to have very narrow slits on the bottom at the back with a kindve ladder made from the wood into it the bats fly up then climb in ... However a slit at the top front can work also ... I'm sure there are many other types that's just the ones I've had the pleasure of building and fitting :)

I don't suppose anyone knows if this is for Bats or Owls by any chance? These have suddenly sprung up near us.

It is definitely a bat box, If my legs worked properly I would love to train as a bat carer, but it also involves having to have rabies vaccinations :(

There is a conservation order on all species of bat in the UK and it is illegal to build anywhere that there is a nesting site

Iv'e been on the phone to the "bat people" and the "owl people" who have said it will not stop building going ahead.

Apparently it is all down to the planning department and they must have had someone (can't remember who they said now) round to asses what species of animals are in and around the building and this must be the outcome "alternative dwellings"

I thought as you a do not disturb sign as such was put in place but apparently not.

The tree people are up in arms as they have cut a load of trees down,
the water tower people are angry because they have got permission to take the tower down and there are very few left anywhere.

Apparently it isn't anything to do with English Heritage either.

The builders are worried about their jobs as the site will run out of money.

If these are Owl boxes I'm glad I'm not an Owl as they're far too small.

They come with a fair amount of free space which, on the one hand seems a bit stingy, but, on the other hand does allow you to personalise them.

I even managed to fit in a survival blanket.

  • Finally, I can have eggs that fit the muffins.

Bought myself a one egg frying pan.

With an inside base diameter of only 4", my fried eggs will come out perfectly round, and just the right diameter to fit an oven-bottom muffin.

It is little screw ups like the one that AOT suffered that demonstrate that we should all have a months income in the bank just incase TPTB screw up.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.
