:p I suspect he might be toxic, like a fugu fish, and require a specially-trained chef to prepare him for the BBQ. :p

Ach, going to take my ratty self off to lie on the couch with some escapist fiction. I have chocolate, you know.;) And tea. The glorious revolution will have to be postponed for a while as I'm in a moodie.

I was on the phone today to a colleague in an office in Europe. She mentioned that one of my UK colleagues was visiting and worried about his house '400 yards from the Thames'. I suggested maybe she shouldn't be the one to tell him that it was probably IN the Thames by now...

I've got two pairs of wellies GQ. Cheap unbranded 'made in China' from the farm supply shop wellies that everyone wears round here most of the time. And Aigles with neoprene lining that are longer, better fitting and WARMER. Which everyone round here wears when they actually need proper wellies. Haven't seen anyone in the actual country wearing hunters for donkeys years. At least, not people who intend to get them wet and muddy!

:p One of my colleagues wears Hunters to walk a mile across town if its wet. Hunters or ballet pumps, nothing inbetween. I have a pair of very basic Dunlop wellies stashed in case of need, but not on the lottie. I garden in steel toed Dr Martens (£5 from a bootsale, unworn).

Ooof, definately going to the sofa now. And Flylady can go hang cos I ain't washing up never mind shining the blessed sink. Grrr.

Just in case any of us hasn't had enough misery.....a little snippet from the news.....apparently fans of the late Michael Jackson have been trying to sue his doctor for compensation for all the emotional stress and trauma they suffered when he died.

I have just four little words for them.....get a freaking life!

    Evening preppy peeps

Have caught up, again, but have been very lax recently. The only preps I have done today is to sample some cheaper sources of rose wine and early £aster supplies from Ald!, pretty good, and taste better when you know they a dam^ sight cheaper than the SM! :D

We had a brief snow shower at tea time today, nothing serious, but am wondering if we'll get our winter later this year. DH could do with some wellies, but has some hefty walking boots that might do. Thursday will be a CS day, need to trawl them all for serious preps. :rotfl: I also now have a serious addiction to p!nterest survival pins, how bad is that?

This has been on recently implying that money in a TSB account is only used to provide loans or mortgages here in the UK.

What they actually say is 'support'. Is that a weasle word, that means the deposits are levered up by fractional reserve banking to lend out many times the amount of the deposits, or are loans actually fully funded by deposits?

    Anyone know?

I clicked on it and watched it. I agree with the woman being interviewed - the policewomen on the horses were as dismissive as possible :( Horrible to watch, but necessary. Thanks for posting.
Shocking too how senior politicians are now 'visiting' the flooded areas to review the situation, how can they use this dreadful situation to further their own political interests? scoring points off each other in debate in a parliamentary session is one thing but trying to score points off the opposition whilst actually visiting a disaster area is underhand and immoral in my opinion, bad people!!!
Totally! And Mr "we're all in this together" (he said it again today!) definitely isn't in it, is he, he's flying all over the country because guess what, you can't get around on the ground. I can't bear listening to the politicians at the moment, any of them. Anybody see the woman on the BBC, must have been late 60s or early 70s, who said she wouldn't be voting for any of them, didn't trust a single one?

  • Well looks like TSHF for me..:( Had an email today re redundancy consultation and my post has totally disappeared :eek:

Promises of 'profiling' to 'slot people in to other posts'(in depts that are also losing staff???) At 67 with 15 years in a public facing information providing post I can't see an office dept wanting to even interview me anyway :o

I want my job cos I love it not because I need a job as such.:mad:

I am currently following The People's Bank UK who are hoping to set up a slightly better bank... I really hope it happens.
I am looking to change my bank but even some of those that I am considering are subsidiaries of the big insolvent banks. So it would be out of the frying pan into the fire.
