Thanks, charis, deffo haven't had one of those. I do live in flats and we do get some junk, usually fast food joint flyers. I definately get a fraction of the junk mail which arrives at my parents' house across the county. I had sort of attributed that to being registered with the mailing preference service, but may be it isn't that at all.
I guess marketeers figure that we flat-dwellers, esp those who dwell in really wee flats like mine, aren't worth trying to flog stuff to.
Never mind, I shall get my two-penn'orth in ahead of the leaflet. I do glance at anything sent or delivered to me, before recycling it.
ETA Opt-out form printed and signed and will be with GP on Monday. I think I will hand-deliver it and see if I can get a receipt. To keep in my patient records. She who dies with the most paperwork, wins.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Finally finished reading the thread phew. You miss a few days and this thread moves so fast. Commented on a couple of posts as I read, but so much discussed lol.
The banks issues are a little worrying, but tbh apart from keeping some cash at home and investing in the bits on your "preppers list" (I assume we all have a list of the items we would really like to buy for our prepping-I have been umming about getting a windup radio for a while but intend to order it this week) I think there is not much we can do about the big picture and just have to manage the life directly around us.
I have a sneaky feeling that now they are able to cover their basic domestic bills Greece are just waiting to tell the EU and Germany to stick their loans and the Euro and will be going back to their own currency and who can blame them. I reckon their "independance day" in March might appeal to the Greeks, or the longer holiday weekend over Easter-beginning of May this year in Greece.
Benefited from MIL storing tendancies a few times recently. Basically if the in laws try something and like it, then an offer appears she stocks like crazy. Her back bedroom is like a shop I kid you not. BUT FIL can be a bit awkward and goes through phases of liking something, she stocks up ALOT then he decides he no longer likes it so she ends up giving the extras to us. Just recently we have had a serious amount of weetabix before crimbo and this week we got 8 multi packs of seabrooks crisps lol. I reckon if TSHTF food wise and definately tp wise they will be ok, trouble is FIL takes so many pills that he couldn't manage without his drugs. But I still believe we are on a slow decent not a crash.
Completely off topic but has anyone here used "splosh" cleaning stuff. basically you get a reusable long life plastic bottle and the cleaning "stuff" comes as a small concentrate, add your own water, shake and away you go. They try to avoid alot of the additives people talk about avoiding and you recycle the bottle to reuse so its pretty "green" and from a preppy POV the refills take up little space for storing. I was considering giving them ago and whilst on their FB page entered a comp to win a starter pack of 4 bottles and concentrate, found out yesterday I won :j. So get to try for free and at worse get 4 bottles I can either use with their refills or cheapy stuff elsewhere.

alibobsy I haven't tried Splosh stuff but the A Year without Supermarkets bloggers were very complimentary about it http://ayearwithoutsupermarkets.com/2014/01/09/splosh/ . Be interested to see what you think and how much fuss the bottles are to make up.0

Unlurking to say that I found the Splosh stuff rubbish. I often use Ecover or BioD so I think I have a reasonable idea of the performance of eco cleaners and Splosh didn't hit the mark at all.
You needed tons of washing up liquid to get it to work so much that I finished the bottle in a week! (there are only two of us here) The kitchen cleaner was ok but nothing special and both the laundry liquids left my boyfriends clothes as dirty as when they went in. He works our land so is very grubby but most eco laundry stuff at least gets the smell out if not the actual stains. I ended up having to use double to get stuff passably clean.
Everyone else online seems to love it but I think I have fairly low standards and it really disappointed me. So much that I asked for my money back (something they offer if you don't like on their website) and although they gave it back straight away they were very 'short' via email which definitely put the nail in their coffin for me!0 -
