  • Hi,

The book Snow by Ryan Clifford was mentioned a while back (?by GQ),
    thanks.

I have just noticed the Kindle version is at 99p for the rest of the day and then goes back up to £2.05.

Hi, hope peeps are having a lovely day. It was a v late start for us as we couldn't sleep last night. About 7.30am before we finally dropped off:eek: However just before we did we heard the most beautiful bird song which we recorded on the BB playbook. What a treat:) I'm now trying to identify it. The nearest I can come up with is a song thrush but still not 100% sure. It was dark and absolutely pouring down with rain. We live on the edge of town and near a cemetery and allotments and get the occasional strange birds in the garden but not often because of the number of cats about.

I've been feeling quite carpy this week, but this has lifted me and I feel so lucky to have heard such beautiful birdsong this morning and my spirit has been lifted and I;m feeling quite warm and fuzzy if IYKWIM. I'm quite determined to discover what it was.
:) Could it have been a blackbird?

Thanks GQ but definitely not a blackbird. I've been listening to various recordings online of alsorts. It has really given me a lift. We always sleep with a window ajar but it was so loud we had to shut it. Then we decided to play the recording back to the mystery bird. After a minute or two it went silent. I think we might have confused it somewhat. At least we got to sleep. We've played it through the B and O speakers we inherited and the recording has captured the song and the rain perfectly, shame OH coughed half way through:rotfl:I feel so blessed to have heard it though:)

    Update,
Think we've decided it must have been a song thrush as that seems to be the closest match we can find.
  • I once rented a work unit from a local farmer, he had a large grey cat that often visited me, I asked him what it was called. He looked embarrassed, muttered & mumbled & finally said 'We call him Cookie'. A few months later when he knew me a bit better, he admitted that the cat was actually called Cooking Fat, think about it!

Haha. Just before I moved out of home I got a cat called Tab Cat. My dad insisted on calling her Cooking Fat, and this was was 20 years ago.

:) Plenty. Heck, paint-stripping heat guns are 1,800 watts.

I was just curious, as B&Q are selling a gas heater with a 4,200w output.

As for running costs, I seem to recall a comment on a review (possibly Amazon), that they used one for about 10 hours per day, and it lasted about a fortnight, on a 15kg cylinder.

Can't recall if this was at full power, all the time.

A quick Google, gives a price of £35 for a 15kg Calor butane refill, which I make to be about 25p per hour.

Not sure if that's cheap or expensive.
you can post any kind of bio-mass into it, and it gets converted into energy.

Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase, 'sh*t in the carburettor'. :)

How often do I need to do that

Are you sure he hadn't just been watching Carry On Loving?
  • For anyone interested, in their £1 aisle, ASDA are currently selling 2 packs of treat&ease Instant Cooling Ice Packs.

:p That's cuz you're up a hill Oop North. It's a highly-acceptable 5 degrees here, windows are all open and heating off, as it has been for days. Gonna be a mild one.
