jkO we've only the one chimney with the woodburner liner in it (and the woodburner too, obviously!) and it too howls like a banshee when the fire isn't lit, I've never known wind make such a noise as it is this winter. Perhaps investing in a chimney balloon would lessen the noise or maybe capping the chimney pot? I suspect though that it will only lessen the noise, not cure it altogether, Lyn x.0

OK, so I woke up this morning to find the single LED hand torch has expired.
I don't know exactly when, since it happened overnight, but it was sometime between just after midnight, and 1000hrs, when I got up.
For convenience, let's say it happened at 0510hrs.
That means the batteries lasted 156 hours.
The 9 LED mini torch is still going strong-ish.0 -
welcome green lady, roadside and mikey macbeth , greeninkpen!!!
Oh and the name of the torch my OH bought for for caving is called the Princeton Tec Impact XL Torch. He reckons its pretty robust and can cope with a bashing. I.e Him smacking his head off a cave roof
Were currently using a camping kettle in place of a electric kettle, our broke and we didn't buy a new one. Cost £9.99 and we've it for about four years, still going strong, even with constant use!
for the gas canisters with the camping stoves b& sell a pack of 5 for £2.99 and they really and last a long time.
The wind is hellish here, its like a monster howling everywhere. We were out yesterday evening and thought the van was going to tip. Honestly we were on two wheels at one point. I made OH drive through centre of town instead of the motorway.0 -

on the subject of gas I too got the 2 ring cooker from b and m last year and had a few bob put away so invested in a big gas bottle bought the connector off flea bay for about 4 quid and got gas supplierman to connect and try it out while he delivered the gas. approx. last a year maybe more as I have a gas cooker connected to gas bottle and we only use max 1 and a half a year. so it should last a lot longer on 2 ring cooker.C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z #7 member N.I splinter-group co-ordinater
