the electric went out.... yes had my camping lantern in the house,, forgot to put it on charge,, had to use candles.water went yeterday , due to a burst main in the town... DH had to drag himself to the shop to buy bottled water...TP stash was down to 1 yes ONE roll....I now stand, with my head in my hands ready to be drummed out of the preppers club,
I presume you lantern is now charged, bottled water is stocked and the TP mountain is being rebuilt? Then you're safe (and I've no idea where the drumsticks are)

None of us are perfect, ok I'm not and I sort of assume other people aren't - it saves me from an inferiority complex, at least I hope it does0 -

I cannot possibly imagine to what you might be referring, sirrah, as I am a delicately-raised respectable wumman and couldn't possibly discuss anything of that nature (whatever that might be, as I'm sure I'm too refined to understand).
Phew, normal GQ service will be resumed soon.
CornishChick, OMG, one TP roll. Everything else understandable but only one roll of TP. I wouldn't have slept at nights for the anxiety such paucity would have caused me. Heck, I have 48 rolls stashed in the bedroom as well as another 48 in the bike shed.......and there's only me living here.:rotfl:
Been to archery and back home again via the YS labels dans the supermarche. Am about to dine on YS steamed fancy spuds and prechopped veg, with roast gammon from yesterday.Life is very fine indeed, even if I'm running a bit late today.

Oh my, I hope I didn't come across as critical, I only meant that by reading the post I realised that I had better check on my own preps..... I'm sorry if I offended anybody and will now disappear back to my usual lurking.

AliceOi, missus, get yourself back in da house immediately. Or if not sooner. Can't be having de-lurkers re-lurking and I'm sure you didn't cause offence.:)

Alice
Alice, my sincere apologies.
My post wasn't meant to be a criticism of your post in any way. Particularly because it made me laugh - I re-edited my reply to include a reply to your post, partly because it had a similar theme to my own reaction partly because it put a huge grin on my face.
The nobody's perfect paragraph wasn't aimed at anybody but me and as an attempt at reassuring CornishChick. (who has more than enough on her plate and posts with such good humour)
I really hope you continue to post as and when you wish, the thread is much richer for having more points of view0 -
Yep - we all too busy prepping to give or take offence in this thread!0

Just been catching up.. hello to delurkers, please don't re-lurk! I'e realised that I delurked about a year ago (I didn't really lurk for long intentionally but it took a while to read the first few thousand posts :rotfl:). In that time I have:
- acquired more tins of baked beans than most people would thing wise or sensible
- stored enough water in recycled bottles to keep us going for about three weeks
- gained a paraffin stove to add to the gas and trangia stoves we already had
- bought a wind-up/solar radio (thanks GQ)
- and a wind-up/solar lantern
- packed a BOB
- added to my bookshelf a small range of interesting literature....
- started collecting and storing seeds
and in short feel much better prepared for any reasonable or unreasonable calamity which may crop up..
All this without any enormous effort or expenditure, just picking up bits here and there, mooching around the CSs, watching the seasonal sales and generally being much more conscious of the ability of life to knock you flat on your a**e when you least expect it :rotfl:
So I've learnt and gained a lot from jumping into the thread and they don't bite in here (unless it's chocolate of course).0 -
Thank you preppers for your forgiveness:j
I swear by the holy rolling pin that I will do better,
In fact my Christmas present from my bil has finally arrived, and on Sunday I will take prosession of a solar radio/torch... that can also be a phone charger.. :j
by the way, if anyone is attacked by a giant mustash, it blow of our car yesterday driving along the A 39. apologies.today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.
