Wind is definitely getting up now.

Not just branches, but whole trees, are on the move.

ETA: Now it's raining as well. :(

It's weird... it's kind of roaring :o I did wonder whether there had been a landslide. Or a tidal wave. But as I'm less than half a mile from the source of both [STRIKE]streams[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]rivers[/STRIKE] raging torrents that form two of the boundaries of my garden I think it's unlikely. When the towns downstream are under a couple of feet of water I'll start moving stuff upstairs...

I was reading a post on another forum last night saying that in West Virginia they were expecting an 80 degree drop in temperature (including windchill) overnight. I've been in Chicago for a winter storm when it was minus 40 with wind chill, and I have to say I'd never want to do it again. The cold really does hit like a knife. On the plus side, I did get to buy my decent snow boots on that trip.

Re wind greenbee, this is what I hate about it, when it roars like that. The rafters creak and I'm always waiting for the roof to come off lol. When my skylight got sucked out it was a really weird noise, we couldn't work out what happening until we saw the glass all over the back garden. Is calmer this morning but I think we have another event to prep for - weather - even those of us who don't live on hills/near water. Is bound to cause disruption all over the place when it gets this bad, and the snow isn't even here yet.

It's only in the last year or so that I have experienced the wind 'howling like a banshee' around my house. What a weird noise. It even startles the dog - who is hard of hearing.

It's the same with me too and I've lived here for ten years, the noise is really strange.

We had an overnight guest recently who slept downstairs on the sofabed and he commented on the howling sound.:D

We get a whistle, a howl, a moan, and a roar, depending how bad it is. An orchestra lol

Have any of you guys recently stopped up a disused chimney? Mine whistles like a milk bottle when the wind blows over it.
