OH got up for an hour to go and see DGs, that was lovely though he doesnt understand what all the fuss is about. Oh excelled himself with my gifts so far, will get the rest when DiL gets back from her parents. Nothing prepperish but lots of pretty baking things. Ds is buying me new kitchen scales, I never used to use them but guess old age and rushing make them a necessity now.
Mrs LW fab gift, I am in awe. Can't wait to hear how you get on with it.
We are going to Dd's where here cheffy partner is cooking and for the first time (apart from one) in 34 years Im not cooking :j:j Can hardly lift a pan or stand at the cooker so its a good job :rotfl: pulled a muscle coughing and its very difficult doing the simpleist things except hugging DGs - no pain no gain !Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.

Yes let's not forget those who have been affected - on the news this morning they mentioned someone who was cooking Christmas dinner on a barbecue!
Let's hope those in the affected areas are helping each other out.
Might be selling up in the Spring and if I do buy again, where that property is situated will be the prime consideration.
My first Christmas in my own home, 2001, we didn't have a kitchen yet so did sausages on the barbecue outside the back door. It was flipping freezing with the door open, but surprisingly festive feeling.
Having said that, I think it only felt that way because we'd planned it. I wasn't giving in and going up to my parents, as this was my first independent Christmas. For all those who end up having to bbq because they're left with no other option, I feel for them. Not heavily in debt, but still trying to sort things out.

I have just been given a large carrier bag with 2kg potatoes, cauli, 4 large onions, iceberg lettuce, 6 oranges, mushrooms and a bag of brussels sprouts! Like PIC ,I had to tell someone as those in RL think I've lost the plot with my frugalling ways
CazI'd be pretty chuffed with that haul as well. We have a family saying about freebie foods; You can't taste the copper...............
MrsLW, what brilliant santa you have, to get such a perfect present. Come late summer, we shall want all the updates and tips you can provide.I'm taking a little breather from the family Christmas; we timed our walk a bit too early and came back whilst the Speech was still on. I don't do royalty so had to slope upstairs to the home office.
The Queen of Sheba is lolling on the windowsill above a radiator goinfg full-blast, we haven't seen Wild Thing for about 7 hours, the weather is frosty and sunny and we've walked in the woods and got a bit muddy, but it's all good.
Hoping everyone is having a great Christmas. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Merry Christmas everyone
Having a very lazy day. Didn't get up until after 2pm
About to start cooking - moving mealtimes doesn't work here for medical reasons, but it'll be the full festive roast duck and trimmings.
May the blessings and peace of Christmas give you all strength and joy for the year ahead.
