Hi all,
All okay here, power was out today at home but I was at work. Bit scary getting into work but thankfully all okay. Though very sad to see someone died on road not far from us.
Glad everyone is okay, hope it's just the leccy with mar.
Keep cosy everyone x XMoving towards a life that is more relaxed and kinder to the environment (embracing my inner hippy:D) .:j0 -
Gah our council is worse than useless. They put up on twitter that some homes may need to be evacuated, go to the website to read the recent update. No update that wasn't there 2 hours ago and it mentions nothing about who they think will need to leave or even that some folks are going to be advised to leave!
I have tweeted them to ask when folks will be informed if they are on the 'at risk' list.Spam Reporter Extraordinaire

Mardatha, I hope you're still up the SAME hill in Scotland and safe and well. The same goes for anyone else in a badly affected area.
Trains from Central London into Kent are delayed, so my DIL and my son will be home late tonight.
And we've got months of this to look forward to.Felines are my favourite

It's just been sleeting here.
It's a bit worrying as, when I nipped out to the shops, a few minutes ago, my car's thermometer was showing just 3c.
If it freezes tonight, the roads will be really bad.
Just added 4 packs of Crisp-bread to my stores.0 -

Looks like the highest tides will be in the small hours by the time the surge gets down past Essex and Kent way. High tides are 7.06 Grimsby, 7.43 Hull, 11 pm Lowestoft, 01.39 Clacton, 02.52 Tilbury.
Oh, and they will be deploying the Thames barrier tonight.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Just de-lurking to wish everyone affected by storms all the very best.
Hope everyone stays safe and well.Normal people worry me.0 -
That's the beauty of living in the clouds, as I do.
It's all down hill, so no chance of flooding.
There's also no trees, anywhere near where I park my cars, so, in the absence of a flying cow (Twister) or flying vehicles (The Day After Tomorrow), I should be OK.
On the downside, when it snows, it's pretty bloody awful up here.0 -
Thinking very much of all those affected by the winds, the snow, fallen power lines, and potential floods. Stay safe & eat chocolate, say I...Angie - GC Aug25: £478.51/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

A lot of folks have it A LOT worse than us (in this house I mean) so I am counting my blessings.
The council replied to my tweet by saying the police will advise if we are to be moved. I just wish they had said that originally, rather then let everyone that reads their tweets wonder if it is going to be them. Hubby thinks we will be fine, he is also very blaise about a lot of things though. I just want to be prepared - in case and all that.
I assume they don't just say 'the water shouldn't get any higher than this so we'll stop here.' There must be some sort of buffer zone. I haven't been in any kind of situation like this before, or even know anyone that has, so I don't have a clue.
GQ, we aren't that close to Sandwich so we haven't had any word like that. However, as I say, the EA flood map is showing severe for the bottom of my road!
Ah well, I shall just have to wait and see. Stay safe everyone and I hope anyone we haven't heard from today is well and just cosy-ing down in a room kept snug.Spam Reporter Extraordinaire
