:) I have decided that the leftover opened bottle of wine from last Friday needed to be cleared up. As part of the preps, because it'd be bad if the leccy went off and the wine got warm, wouldn't it?

So, it's my duty, really. I wouldn't want you to think I was enjoying it or anything.:p

It's back to an almost flat calm here. A few hours ago I had to stand back to the wind in order to get my coat zipped up, it was so blustery, and the A frame signs outside shops were about to take off. It's weird; too quiet, I'm not trusting it at all.

Wondering what the next few hours will bring for us all and hoping everyone stays safe.

My Satnag had a picture of a windsock on it when I switched it on earlier. I'm now stocked up on essentials (only reason I went out - I work from home) and getting ahead on work (in case of power cuts) in front of the fire.

And VERY pleased that I had the five vast conifers at the front of the house taken down a couple of weeks ago. Three of the stumps show evidence of rot (as do the trunks but they're all stacked up waiting to be turned into logs...) so it was a wise decision!
  • Hi everyone, just popping on to wish people all the best if you're in flood zones and that I'm thinking of you.

We had awful weather this morning, dropped kids off to school and was called back an hour later to collect them. I should've gone with my gut and not taken them, it's just not worth the risk. In future I will keep them off and even take them in late when the weather settles.

As far as I know MARs area is still without electric. It was off when I was doing the school run so it's been at least 12hrs.

Told we'd know by 9.30pm if school's on tomorrow so just waiting for the text.

:) Smart move with the conifers. Such a relief to have made the right call at the right time.

Latest word is that they're having to evacuate North Lincs villages on the south bank of the Humber estuary and that the Trent has burst its banks at a village well back from the estuary - Keadby.

Gonna be a long night, heading down the Lincs coast now. If you're on the east coast, blessings to you and hope you stay dry.

Gonna slope off to my pit and get some rest.

De-lurking just to wish you all well, especially those by the coast or near rivers. It's been very windy here, but no damage *touch wood* and although we live near a resevoir we're not in danger of flooding. So good luck for the night everyone. :A

  • Hi,I live near Aberdeen,it's been very bad here.Lightning, hail stones, sleet and gale force winds.i have a lot of family in Norfolk, praying they all keep safe.My biggest worry is my youngest son who is on a rig 130 miles off Aberdeen,he has been trying to get off since Weds,he phoned to say they have 140 mile an hour winds and it's hard to walk around because you are falling about and it's hard to stay in bed because the rig is swaying. Its only his fourth trip to a rig and his first winter one, hope he gets used to it.i will feel better when he is safe on land.
