Two guys from the village garage came out. They fitted my ridiculous spacesaver tyre in place of the 'going down' one and replaced the 'gone down' one with a spare wheel they had brought with them. Then they took the car back to the garage where they repaired the going down one and fitted a new one for the flat - which they had to order in. Then one of them brought the car back to my house and we drove back to the garage where I dropped him off! I'm glad they offer that sort of service to the ones that live a bit far out. But the whole palaver cost me just under £100. :(:(:(

all the more reason to have some extra, available?

But not to give to the dog, and preferably not attached to the dog.

The last thing you need, is for the dog to run off with it, when you need it.

D&DD - Looked at white bread flour today in MrT - it was £1 per bag. Walked away from it at that price - I'm hoping it goes down or that L!dls gets some in. Though I've noticed the prices are tending to not go down again on several of the things I buy regularly.

I ordered a new jam pan and it arrived today :D. So some experimenting will take place this weekend - probably some sort of Rhubarb Jam or Jelly. I want to get a stock of jams and jellies built up in my stores.

Things are sprouting the garden seed-bed, but they've been battered by the hail and wind over the last couple of days. I'll go out in a short while to check up on them. My lastest sowings have been beetroot, pak choi, spring onions, winter cabbage, purple sprouting broccoli and lots of parsley - flat leaved and curly. I'm trying to fit a lot more herbs in as I want to dry them and build up a good stock of home grown dried herbs in my stores.

:D Thanks for that. D'you think it is available at that price instore, or just online?

JayneC, I'm so sorry that you got a tick. I loathe the bliddy things, they absolutely make my flesh creep. In your position, I'd take the antibiotics in full, but you must do whatever you see fit, of course.

I have been oot and aboot after w*rk as there are quite a few places with preptastic stuff on sale and they have to be carefully checked out for value for money and preptasticness (OK, I'm a gear nut, I confess it :o).

I'm toying with the idea of decluttering my long hair as part of the ongoing quest for an ever-easier life. Which would also be prepperish as it'd be one less thing in the way if it came down to it. I may do the deed tomorrow, or hire a scissor-commando to do the deed, rather.

Hereinafter, you may call me Shaun..............:rotfl:

PS We've had hail. Several lots. This is southern englandshire in early summer and it's just not on. Who can be sued?

:) Where will he be staying, DD&D? Is he with family, crashing at a mate's, in a hostel? I guess some cash (if you can trust him not to spend it on the comics, plus a printout of the bus/ train timetables to get home, taken off the web? Small map? Pkt of emergency peanuts/ other snacks?

  • I think there are quite a lot of sales on at the moment of camping stuff (the horrible weather I expect) but if anyone is interested Argos have a sale with some reasonable deals, including a 25L backpack for £6. I don't need that but have just ordered a new sleeping bag at less than half price. Had a shameful episode the other day when we ran out of toilet paper  <hangs head in shame> so need to do some restocking....
