Thank you everyone for the lovely lists and the ideas for using stores :T
We don't have a local pound shop but do have a D£als. Today I added:
2 small bottles of hand gel (£1.20 for a pack of 2). My stores of gel are getting quite low (OH and I keep them in the car and at work).
2 emergency blankets (£1.20 for a pack of 2)
Somebody mentioned that they were good for wrapping round people on shock. I hadn't thought of them like that. OH has put one in his mini first-aid kit he carries in his work rucksack.0 -
I think it might be because OS was given a major plug in Martin's weekly email
Oh yeah, just read that.
SHTF thread didn't get an honourable mention, tho, did it?:rotfl:But build it and the people will come. Mr Costner said so and I believe everything I read in the movies.
Pssst NEW PEOPLE!
We have ZOMBIES and we're all slightly cracked, in an old style kinda way, we're the outlaw mad(cap) wing of the OS playpen.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

We have got the most horrendous high winds here, hot winds that are gusting then stopping. The Greek ministry of information have warned of a strong solar flare later this month...how can they know? Here is the translation
IN A FEW DAYS COMING MAGNETIC STORM WILL AFFECT TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND HEALTH
It comes at the end of May a large magnetic storm will affect serious problems both in telecommunications and human health ....
NICK KATSAROS EPIST.SYNERGATIS NCSR Demokritos P.PROEDROS UNION Local chemists
The geomagnetic storms are the result of solar eruptions, where huge amounts of charged particles mainly protons and electrons ejected from the surface of the sun at speeds of 400 to 1,200 kilometers per second, and in about two days arrive in the Earth.
then interact with the magnetic field of the earth and which captures many of the charged particles. This has the effect of the magnetic field affecting the planet causing serious disturbances. The magnetic storms occur frequently, perhaps more than once a month and are not always easy to predict.
Such a large magnetic storm is expected to take place at the end of May which will affect many areas of human activity. Features are likely to be affected as telecommunications, reduce visibility (flakes) on TVs, interference with radio, telecommunication satellites, navigation problems of spacecraft and possible damage to power systems.
According to recent surveys influenced the path of migratory birds and pigeons. Generally will be affected to a greater or lesser degree of electronic and electrical systems, depending on the latitude of the area. The geomagnetic storms usually occur in middle and low latitudes of the Earth.
's geomagnetic storms affect human health and behavior. According to the current data mainly affect those who suffer from hypertension, hypotension, and heart disease. Also cause headaches, dizziness, migraines, insomnia, depression, pressure drop and general sluggishness and low vitality. Russian scientists have done extensive research in biology of space and general effects in human in space, these facts attribute to the variations in the magnetic field of slow blood flow and hypoxia caused among others (i.e. lack of oxygen).
also believe that influenced human behavior and mood.
Magnetic storms affect 50-75% of the population but in varying degrees to every man and most people are influenced to a minimum to a very small extent. Indeed, the majority of young people feel little to no magnetic effects. Recommended for those who are sensitive to magnetic storms to avoid intense physical activity and stress are not left alone.

Strange they should say that, our communications today were really playing up. My visitors went our for an hour and came back physically drained and went to bed! Perhaps we are all influenced by them!“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -

Unfortunately we don't have an Asda (nearest is several hours journey away for me) - so D£als is the best value at the moment for me. If I ever get near an Asda this year I'll stock up :-) Last time I got to one I bought 10 bottles of Stardrops and 10 jars of their own brand yeast extract (great for making tasty gravy :-))0 -
2Ts, spaceweather.com is useful for information on solar flare etc. I check there to see if they is any chance of seeing an aurora.0

Remember those 24 LED lamps I mentioned, a couple of weeks ago?
Asda have them in, for £3 each.0 -

Hi, there are good prices on anti-bac gels inc mega sized 1 litre pump bottles for £1.99 at Savers Health and Beauty. Useful for the homestead.
I've had a look at their website and they seem to be in a lot of areas, maybe they are near you? http://savers.co.uk/
They have small bottles at 49p each, too. I find them useful for quite a few bits, household cleaning products as well as toiletry items. HTH.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Thank you Greyqueen - I wish they were here. I'm a bit too far north for many of the big chains. It was a trade off between living here or having access to all the cheaper shops. 'Here' won
We do have a Tosco's and Lidl so I can get some things mentioned on here0 -
