    :( It's a horrible thing.

The emergency committee Cobra are meeting tonight. Gawd knows what goes through the heads of people who would do such a thing and they seem to have waited around for the police to arrive and then went for them, almost as if they wanted to be martyred for some "cause".

The danerous thing is when an act of violence triggers something in the style of the Rodney King LA riots, and I guess the government and the Police will have that as a background fear.

That dead man has family and friends who are going to be so devastated right now..........those poor souls.

I think the fact that the murderers 'waited' for the police and then gloated on TV will inflame a lot of anger and hatred. And the blood on his hands ..... I pray this will not spark something major...

Our garden is fully decked, so growing much veg is not an option, but again, we have some tomatoes and some peppers growing in pots, might be wise investing in a potato growing sack, but would those keep growing? for how long?

The potato sack's are fairly strong, have handle's to move 'em around and mine are being used for a 4th year, you can also use 'em for growing lot's of other veg, but you don't have to buy the offical potato bag's, use the big bag's from Ik*a,it work's out cheaper.hth

So sad that a young man had to die today when he was probably just in the wrong place at the right time ( for the killers). My heart goes out to his family.

I tend to budget a couple of pounds to prep in the SM and if I am lucky wander the aisles picking up things that are useful and cheap, though I must say the bedroom tax may well curtail it now. Am pinching the pennies ever tighter but trying my best to keep on top of stocks.

I feel over the counter remedies may be a big part of my arsenal now as rang GP earlier for DS (he cant ring from work so although he has moved out now Im still useful :D ) the next appointment is A WEEK ON FRIDAY and she said hurry up and book it as it will soon go. Its ridiculous, I cannot change docs as the only one with room is in the next area and we would have to change hospitals for OH. Its putting pressure on A&E as I would have to got there with Hubby, he cannot wait over a week to see the doc if he needs to  It has left me a little shaken tbh. Think DS may be looking for a new GP, he isnt so bad as its rare he needs to go and this time its not urgent but he wanted this week as he has time off.

Am going to stock up on porridge though as crops are not doing well out there. My dehydrated veg will also be a godsend. i think prepping for next winter will be a priority as things are not looking good are they?

I haven't had a chance to watch or read the news all day my mum just told me about the poor soldier sickening and such a shame our police are such poor shots I'd have shot 'em in the privates and made them suffer, sorry, not much riles me but I have friends who's son's are serving and I'm extremely supportive of our service peeps.

  • Hokay GQ, Muvva got it wrong as usual, what she takes is All Purpose Liquid Soap and she got a 250 ml bottle from Go Outdoors this week. What I remembered her using was a Solid Shampoo and Conditioner Bar from Lush which she says will wash clothes if you need to but isn't as good as the all purpose liquid stuff. I don't know if you would find it useful but places like Wilkos did last year, a packet of little sheets of washing stuff for clothes about the size of a dental floss pack for about £1, very light and it works OK too, hope that helps, Cheers Lyn xxx.

:) I wasn't casting nasturtiums, it's the universal condition; most everybody reading will have done it at one time or the other. Me, f'rinstance!

Yeah, when I logged on this morning there were just over 1,000 browsing old style and there are normally 200-300 at a time then and about 400-500 when I'm on later in the day. Can't comment on what usually happens between times as I'm in the office.

Wonder what on earth is happening? Perhaps if you're on here and not usually here, you'd post and say hello and why you've wandered onto the OS board today? Everyone is welcome and it's lovely to have new faces, but such a sharp uptick in the numbers all of a sudden is incredible, isn't it?

I wonder if it's a symptom of the hard economic times that so many of us are facing?

Goshdarnit, I hate not knowing stuff, drives me spare. I was always the kid dismantling stuff to see how it worked........:p

I think it might be because OS was given a major plug in Martin's weekly email
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Those were my thoughts, almost 8 years ago, when a Brazilian electrician was killed in cold blood, then publicly (and wrongly) blamed for causing his own death.
