I think there are quite a lot of sales on at the moment of camping stuff (the horrible weather I expect) but if anyone is interested Argos have a sale with some reasonable deals, including a 25L backpack for £6. I don't need that but have just ordered a new sleeping bag at less than half price. Had a shameful episode the other day when we ran out of toilet paper  <hangs head in shame> so need to do some restocking....

That seems like a good price but would 25l be enough for basic bug out supplies? I am only just starting to prep and I'm not quite sure realistically how much space I would need.

Thanks peeps he's 21 Bob but is Aspie so imagine he's around 15 as far as wordly wise goes :o He's travelling on his own and is staying in a hotel GQ. He has managed the trip before ok as he is so religiously organised and he has a smartphone for maps etc but good idea to add a paper version.

I've just been helping him pack though and he's surprised me..he has already packed a keyring LED light and his multitool, first aid kit from his BOB,handgel and some ziplock bags :T that's ma boy :D

I'll add in some loose change and some lightweight snacks.I think I'm just worrying as everythings a bit up in the air after yesterdays events :(

DD&D the custard is still 15p, I have a good few packs as when OH cannot eat he always cheers up and demolishes cake and custard. Your boy is a chip of the old block then, My friend with Aspies is very good at travel, mainly alone, the thing he has trouble with (24 years old) is relationships. I think if and when he finds someone who doesnt lean on him and is strong he will be set for life. He is very accomplished in life and has set up computer systems for hospitals but his boss must be very patient :D

Daz I just couldnt watch that programme, not hiding my head in the sand just a little to fragile these last few days.

I must find a back pack, the only trouble is hubby or SIL borrows them and they never come back to me

GQ sorry Shaun, we had hail too, its just wrong. I think there must be someone we can send a snotty letter to like Margo in the Good Life always did. If I get annoyed Hubby always says 'well write a snotty letter you know you will feel better' . Gardeners world needs putting right too showing all their lovely veggies growing away while mine are sat wrapped in scarf and mitts sulking in their pots.

Two guys from the village garage came out. They fitted my ridiculous spacesaver tyre in place of the 'going down' one and replaced the 'gone down' one with a spare wheel they had brought with them. Then they took the car back to the garage where they repaired the going down one and fitted a new one for the flat - which they had to order in. Then one of them brought the car back to my house and we drove back to the garage where I dropped him off! I'm glad they offer that sort of service to the ones that live a bit far out. But the whole palaver cost me just under £100. :(:(:(
EEEh I wish you lived closer! OH does that for the locals, mostly older folk, (collect and drop off)and he does a good job of punctures for a fiver!
Finally planted 150 courgettes..in the hail, lovely spring day:) (and yes I sell them as well as eat them! Also planning a dehydration moment! Mum says they make good 'crisps')
Just read 'The modern survival manual, surviving the economic collapse' by Fernando Ferfal Aguirre. About the collapse of Argentina in 2001 and what he saw happen. Scary stuff but worth a read, though there's alot about guns!
Who was it who asked about essential oils? My sievelike memory fails me, I have a book that mum sent me two of and the spare needs a good home:)
Off to put my nose in new Dan Brown tonight, :D
When I saw the news report of the poor fella getting killed I was a little worried about the use of the word 'terrorists' and then the word 'cobra'.
What legislation will this incident allow the government to bring in next?
What civil rights will be removed next do you think?
Watching the people in Boston being interviewed on 'Russia Today' (more interesting coverage than BBc) they were all for more surveilance - George Orwells Big Brother? Or beyond?
Personally I dislike the idea of facial recognition and cameras everywhere, I feel somehow 'invaded' and I've not noticed the world become a safer place because of or despite them!

:D Thanks for that. D'you think it is available at that price instore, or just online?

JayneC, I'm so sorry that you got a tick. I loathe the bliddy things, they absolutely make my flesh creep. In your position, I'd take the antibiotics in full, but you must do whatever you see fit, of course.

I have been oot and aboot after w*rk as there are quite a few places with preptastic stuff on sale and they have to be carefully checked out for value for money and preptasticness (OK, I'm a gear nut, I confess it :o).

I'm toying with the idea of decluttering my long hair as part of the ongoing quest for an ever-easier life. Which would also be prepperish as it'd be one less thing in the way if it came down to it. I may do the deed tomorrow, or hire a scissor-commando to do the deed, rather.

Hereinafter, you may call me Shaun..............:rotfl:

PS We've had hail. Several lots. This is southern englandshire in early summer and it's just not on. Who can be sued?

I bought mine in store GQ

I was very ill in Uganda with what the doctor called 'tick typhus'. It was either the rats in the house to blame, a stray dog I had taken in or something picked up on the shamba (farm). It was treated after the event with heavy duty antibiotics. Later I had myself tested for Lyme after what I thought were symptoms but it came back negative. That said the lyme tests in this country have a bad press.
Years later I found something on my skin and pulled it without thinking. There was tearing, pain and a surprising amount of blood and I was grossed out to see I was holding a tick! Stupidly, even after the first event, I never thought of going to the GP. Fortunately no repurcussions though 20 years on I still have a mark there .

    Morning my lovelies :D
    Dank and dismal here..
Shelves I thought I'd misread your post about the 150 courgettes lol my gawd I don't envy you when it comes to harvest time!! Yes do try dehydrating them especially grated they come out so good.

I'm glad you got it fixed Pineapple but thats a wallet wobbler isn't it blimey.

Ginny yes they're really handy to have in for a quick dessert aren't they.I do get the stuff in tins when Approved have it and it works out cheaper but sometimes can't be bothered to make proper custard.I can't watch shows like that either I see enough carp going on in real life here :( Hope you feel a bit better soon, this weather doesn't help does it?

Pinkie thanks :D I'll shout if I spot it on offer anywhere,if you can source some cheap apricots try Rhubarb and apricot jam its lovely.

PP there does seem to be some good sale on ATM thanks

I have a 30l one Bornintoit and its large enough for the amount I have in there as I haven't got a fullsize tent or anything.

I must say keep an eye out in the 99p stores as I got a pack of 3 vacuum bags in there and tried them last night when helping DS1 pack and they're great, can't go wrong for a quid and very useful for cramming the BOB ;)

Hope your extremeties are healing well BB

Well I'd better get my butt in gear and sort DS out have a good one XX

DD&D, FWIW my younger daughter, aged 17 and "somewhere on the Spectrum" (has baffled several psychiatrists as to what label to slap on her, but all agreed she's on there) was trotting around London on her own for quite a bit of yesterday, whilst her father was on a work outing before taking her to football in the evening, and seems to have survived perfectly well despite the heightened alertness. (But she got very bored afterwards, when in the restaurant with his work colleagues.) I may have been more anxious here at home, than she was...

Not a great fan of ticks, here, myself. I was bitten aged 3 by a sheep tick, which was in my arm for about 5 days apparently. And again a few years ago, on a Friday whilst walking in a coastal nature reserve. I didn't find it until Saturday lunchtime & had to wait until Monday to have it removed. I did develop a round rash, but the Lyme Disease test came back negative & I've not developed anything worse than I had to start with - i.e. a mild tendency to ME-type symptoms (and all I can say is hats off to those of you who cope with it full time) and a tendency to arthritis which the docs seem to think is perfectly normal once you pass 30.

Lovefullshelves you are not alone - DD1 & I were discussing this yesterday. Want to bet the recording all phone calls & text thing will slip through on the nod now?
