Those tick temovers are excellent BB. It's bad enough getting them out of a dog, the thought it twisting one out of a humanoid fills me with dread. My SIL a few years back got one on her buttock... Crouching to wee. So if you prep for outdoor survival a tick remover is a very good thing to have0

Hi guys
I occasionally lurk here but would like to benefit form your experience, if you have it!
Has anyone used the windup camping lights? I have relatives in Egypt and one of the consequences of the revolution is powercuts, probably a couple of times a month, so thought that these may be handy to get them. Bear in mind that they would be lightless for no more than a couple of hours, so would not be looking for for super duper one.A smile costs little but creates much0 -
Another lurker coming out from the shadows!
I have a couple of the windup camping lamps (got from Bl@cks a couple of years ago when we found ourselves having to be rewired during one of the cold Januarys )
They were the LED ones and my experience was that they were fine for just pottering around (we had them in the bed-room) but were no use for reading or anything that required a bit more focussed light. For that I would recommend head-torches (possibly with rechargeable batteries?)
And by the time I type this someone much more knowledgeable will be around - but just thought I'd add my 2p's worth!0 -
Hello GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY the best portable lighting we have is a couple of solar reading lamps which we got from Ikea - they still make them and they are called SUNNAN lamps. They cost around £18 but are a really reliable and useful thing to have. We've had ours for years now, you leave them on a windowsill and just daylight charges the battery from the built in solar cell. We've found that they will give light for at least 10 hours and we've never found them to completely use up thier charge either. They just sit on the upstairs windowsill all the time so they are always ready to use. Hope that's some help, Cheers Lyn x.0
