Yes he is on ssp at the moment. He doesn't need a 2nd opinion just yet! His health does come 1st before his job, he can't go to work vomiting all the time. He works in a brewery so I don't think they'd want him there while he's being sick!
I disagree, if my child had been vomitting for over 6 weeks, I would be at the hospital every few days. Dehydration kills in days!!!

  • Agree that vomiting for 6 weeks would have me taking my son to hospital!! But I think perhaps the problem is as highlighted in your previous post and it's his attitude that needs "sorting" more than his ... ahem.... illness...

It could be worse I suppose, the OP could have been asking what kind of disabled benefit the lad could claim for.

Isn't 20 a bit too old for being molly coddled though?

My son has been employed for around 3 months. He had been off sick for 6 of those weeks. He gets to work via a friend as there is no other way of getting there. His friend has just handed his notice in so my son will now have to give up this job. Is he likely to be sanction because of this?

Was prior to this job he not employed, self-employed, or a student for over 13 weeks?
If he's been in the job 12 weeks or under, he may still be in the period from 4-12 weeks when he can in some circumstances quit without being sanctioned for JSA.
  • your son has spent most of his probation period off sick, i cant see him holding onto his job for long when and if he gets back to work.

look at it from employer POV, employ a young lad, young lad has a few days here and there sick, then bang 6 weeks in block and employer is paying someone not even on the premises. now lad is having issues getting to work, his p45 is probably already to rock and roll the day his probationary period is over.

as for your son vomiting, get him into hospital to find out why, sudden vomiting, weightloss, dehydration could kill him so instead of worrying about a lift to work get him sorted. probably allergic to whatever he has come into contact with at work like yeast etc or the thought of work is making him vomit?

There are people on this forum that are very helpful but I find the vast amount of people that have commented on my posts VILE. I guess the people I'm talking about have never had to claim benefits in their lives and have no idea what it's like to struggle.

Not all people want to be on benefit. Since being on benefit I have got into debt (because when I was working I could afford the things I had), had to take out a DRO and I suffer with depression. This is what being on benefit has done to me.

On a medical point, the reason that I'm actually off work is because it has taken the NHS 27 months (of constant chronic pain that the strongest painkiller Methadone did not touch the pain) to diagnose that I need a hip replacement. I am 6 weeks post op and when fully fit I will be going back to work. I don't see why I need to explain my situation to PARVA but they seem a very IGNORANT person.

I use this forum to get advice not to have abuse and vile nasty comments in posts from people who no nothing of my situation. It makes me so angry that people think just because you are on benefits you are lazy and dont want to work. I hope you have to claim benefits one day and see how difficult it is. It's great fun sitting home all day with all the benefit money rolling in!!

THE BELOW POST IS WHAT IM REFERRING TOO!!!!!

Perhaps the mother and son are trying to claim the best benefits they can.

Mummy knows the system, son just needs to keep feeling ill. I mean 6 weeks off in a new job and 3 options of transport in that time suddenly results in no transport as they've all left and your son has needed 6 weeks off. Would love to know who he works for, that employer sounds so bad!

If you get the care component of DLA then I suggest that you get your son to claim that on your behalf and he won't need to go to work as the word itself is obviously making him feel sick (whoops, another 4 letter word).

    Good luck......

Edit: Forgot to add, what he claims will come off of your benefits!

If you find posts VILE and offensive then report them to abuse rather than reply to them. The last time you posted regarding your son wanting to claim benefits after telling his window cleaner employer to stick his job you had the same sort of replies.

If your son wants to claim benefits then he has to do everything possible to keep his job.

You still have not answered the question regarding exactly how many miles away this job is.

You live in a village with no public transport. He needs to move out of home and closer to employment if he is not willing to purchase a scooter or ride a bicycle any more than a short distance. Of course all when he is no longer ill. If he isn't willing to do that then he will never find meaningful full time employment.

I don't understand why people answer posts in that way. There is no need for it. As for his previous job yes he did tell his employer that because he kept making sly comments about him being off sick, trying to make out there was nothing wrong with him. So I'm afraid I would have done the same, I wont put up with that sort of thing.

I have no idea how far away the job is.

There is public transport from the village to main city but not directly to this place.

I shall just concentrate on his health 1st, the job part can wait.

This health isssue needs to be sorted out as there's no point him being able to have transport but being to ill to actually go.

If there is transport to the city then is there a local bus that would go to the employment?

Why is a lad of his age off sick so much? Doesn't the GP have any clue what is making him sick? Has he been referred for any tests, etc? My only experience of someone that age being off sick so much was substance abuse but it doesn't sound like he has the money or the transport means to obtain drugs, so hopefully that's one to cross off the list.

Ah - just seen the post about the gastro-check thing in September. Why are you willing to wait that long?!
