E-Cigarettes and air travel

It would help everyone if the airport simply allowed smokers somewhere to go and get their fix.:beer:0

At night most people are relaxed, what doesn't help in places like airports is some people are quite stressed/nervous about the whole procedure of getting though the airport and onto the plane.
It would help everyone if the airport simply allowed smokers somewhere to go and get their fix.
the thing is though its a bit of a joke if someone thinks its going to calm them down, if theyve spent hours before worrying about exactly where they can and cant smoke before even leaving the house :rotfl:0 -

Thomson seem to think they need to go in hold luggage yet I've also heard that you can legally take them though security in hand luggage, O/H is not going to use it on the plane but in the terminals if it's ok. Any info greatly appreciated.
Not flying till September?
Get the other half to give up:)
That is the only answer, nobody needs to smoke despite what the smokers think!0 -
I have carried one in my bag and no issues with security...would never use it in public in the terminal or the plane, but a few sneaky puffs in the loo have worked out ok...but always paranoid it will somehow set off smoke detectors and will be made an example of.
Funny thing is - before it, I was fine on a flight (at least until near the end and immigration queues are evil, evil things) as I knew I couldn't smoke...at least if I didn't watch some Mad Men episodes during the flight...now that there's an option if I am sneaky, I think about it a lot more.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
My mum bought one in the airport ( Glasgow Prestwick) before we flew on a Ryanair flight to Palma this year.
She used it in airport and on plane with no problems. It lit up green at the front. The funniest thing was when she used it in a pub on holiday and it looked like she had a HUGE lazer pen from a distance.0 -

It does calm then down IME
I often fly with a very nervous traveller, if he can have his fix shortly before boarding, he's a whole lot calmer on the flight.
TBH, I think they're a damn sight more able to decide what will calm them down than some random on the internet0 -
Where are you flying from? Several uk airports have smoking areas air side.Mags - who loves shopping0

It's not about manning up, I don't smoke but I do feel that smokers are treated very unfairly by the authorities who are to heavily influenced by anti smoking groups like ASH, at one time, not that long ago airports just had areas signposted where you could smoke, then I remember Manchester Airport having a glass room, this then got taken out and i now believe that at Manchester you can now smoke after security again, however my local airports, Luton and Gatwick don't have any smoking facilities, yet they are very happy to take revenue from the sale of tobacco products.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0
