E-Cigarettes and air travel

We are flying from Luton to Reus in September, this means the other half moaning and bad tempered for 4-5 hours due to lack of nicotine, we thought this year that E-cigs would be the answer, however I can't seem to get a definite answer or find any guidance. Thomson seem to think they need to go in hold luggage yet I've also heard that you can legally take them though security in hand luggage, O/H is not going to use it on the plane but in the terminals if it's ok. Any info greatly appreciated.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

I can't see any logical reason why Thomson seem to think they should go in hold luggage.
My OH has taken one through security before in his pocket and used it in the terminal, no probs at all. he did refrain on the plane just incase it caused an international incident though.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Thanks for the help, to be fair, the lady I spoke to from Thomson wasn't sure but assumed that it would be a hold item, I am waiting for her to get back to me with a definite answer.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
It may not be a hold item but most airport specifically forbid the use of electronic cigarettes in the terminal building.
Mainly because from a distance its impossible to tell if its real or not and would cause no end of problems for them to enforce a smoking ban.
You may get away with it, but it is against their rules (search for Heathrow electronic cigarette for their rules)0 -
Electronic cigarettes are not permitted to be used on the aircraft.

Yep and the intention was not to use it on the aircraft as I mentioned in my opening post.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

The main reason is because many airlines are now selling cheap disposables on board at a greatly increased price.
And don't bank on being able to use the same device on the way back because it will be "banned" too. So you might have to buy another.
"Stealth vaping" is another option - If you hold-in the vapour for a few seconds and exhale slowly, no problem. All the airline staff I've asked about have said "we will only act if we see it" so if you are careful, fine.
And of course there is no problem using them in the planes bogs.0 -

Even if you get one of the ones with a big blue LED on the front? Surely it would be easy to enforce, walk up and have a look and a sniff, not exactly CSI material is it. probably the real reason is the lack of social skills of the enforcement staff. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head.
