First Direct Contactless Card

Just received my replacement FD debit card after having lost my wallet and it now seems that they do contactless as standard. I only opened my 1st account a couple of months ago and my old card wasn't contactless so I guess this must be pretty recent.
I guess if you want one you can just phone them up and ask.

Or send them a secure message like I did and save the cost of a phone call (unless you're on an inclusive calls package!)0

I sent them a secure message saying "I do not want a contactless card, do not send me one" and they replied "Tough, we are replacing it anyway" (maybe a bit more diplomatic than that, but the same answer).
So I no longer use the account and now use another which doesn't use contactless technology.0 -

I received my new debit card yesterday and it's contactless. I don't want that functionality but FD confirmed I have no choice - they can't sent a £0.00 limit nor can they issue cards without contactless payment.
HSBC told the Guardian in May that customers would have an opt out option - looks like FD aren't taking that on board.
I'm not happy as I don't want or trust contactless payments any ideas?0 -
Calm down, if anyone steals your card and make transactions on it via contactless payment the bank will reimburse you.0

Not the point.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
Feeling rather stupid here, but maybe some nice MSE person will point out to me what the problems are with contactless cards.0
