Disney Park Tickets from Travel Republic!!!**

Quite simply - DON'T!

I ordered 2 Disney Ultimate park tickets from Travel Republic through their ticketing agents, Online Florida, on a recommendation from a friend.

They accepted my order and processed my c/c payment of £492 on the same day. Tickets to be posted in 7-10 working days. 21 working days and 2 telephone calls later I'm still waiting.

They've now said "sorry no tickets available for 2013, wait for stock or refund payment", (though they still have them advertised for sale on their website, so other customers will get caught).

Have cancelled order and must now wait for refund, I'm livid. There is a general 'buy 14 days for the price of 7' offer on several websites (including theirs) & I wanted to take advantage of this.

Thankfully, I only placed part of my total order with that company, 2 more tickets had been ordered through American Attractions (recommended by MoneySavingExpert) & safely delivered. 2 more have been ordered from AA, once I had confidence in them. Pity I didn't place the whole order there.

Travel Republic/Online Florida..........RUBBISH. They should not have accepted my order. They should not still be advertising them for sale as they know they don't have any. They should DEFINITELY NOT have taken payment. They should not have left me wondering where my order was way past the contractual delivery time.

Got that off my chest so feel better. At least if my refund isn't prompt, I used my card so can get the c/c to reverse the transaction. :T

  • Hi SevenofNine

Travel Republic has asked us to post a response. MSE doesn't endorse anything a company says on the forum.

    Hi SevenOfNine,

My name is Sophie and I work for Travel Republic. First of all I would like to apologise for the delay you experienced with your tickets. The reason we had a delay was we have only just placed our first order for Disney 20013 tickets (although we have been given prices from Disney) and have been waiting for them to arrive. I’m very sorry if you needed the tickets quickly, and we were unaware that there was an urgency with your booking. I can assure you that we have no intention of catching people out and as previously mentioned we have just started receiving stock for this.

Apologises once again for the delay and distress caused

    Sophie

If they're for next year, why have you cancelled your order ? They never actually run out of tickets, they're probably just waiting for them to come in.

Is there a reason why you ordered them so early if they're for 2013 ? We're going next July, i'll probably order ours in about May. You can always get the 14 days for 7 deals.

Meer53 - There is nothing on any site carrying that offer which specifies "you can always get the 14 days for 7 offer". It's an 'offer' and can be withdrawn at any time - no guarantees!

THAT is partly why I ordered them now (6 tickets altogether, done in batches of 2, spread over a couple of months), to take advantage of the offer, and to spread the cost of what is going to be a very expensive holiday (we are paying for everything for 6 people).

My 'beef' with Travel Republic/Online Florida is that they failed to bother to tell me they didn't have the 2013 tickets when I ordered them.............yet they DIDN'T fail to take my £492 immediately from my c/c (on 10 June).

When I rang to ask about ticket whereabouts on 2 July, I was told they hadn't been posted yet, not that they had no stock.

When I rang again on 7 July I was again told they still hadn't been posted. I only found out it was possible they didn't even have any after I 'pushed' the telephone operative further.

A subsequent email confirmed they had no idea WHEN tickets would be available "waiting for stock", so presumably expected to sit on my money for even more weeks, months, whenever.

Given that they certainly couldn't meet the contractual "tickets will be posted in 7-10 working days", it would have been professional common courtesy (even an obligation) to have advised the customer - not had me start to worry and chase for information.

Interesting that Sophie from Travel Republic should say they were "unaware there was any urgency with my booking". Not a great defence, the point still clearly being missed. Once you'd had my payment for 10 working days you were required to post me the tickets. You couldn't, so should have offered me the option of 'wait or refund' THEN.

I got my fingers burned on-line some time ago when a company couldn't deliver products after taking payment. It took over 3 months and a lot of bother but my c/c company finally reversed the transaction............and that company ceased trading not long afterwards.

I'm not psychic, Travel Republic/Onlineflorida could have been going the same way for all I knew.

However, I'm pleased to say I got my money back a month after placing my order. American Attractions have so far supplied 4 tickets with this final 2 are in the pipeline (after I phoned before ordering to check they still had some stock - unfounded mistrust, a legacy for me from Travel Republic).

A customer should only relate a true account of their experience with a company, in answer to questions asked by others on a forum, to serve as a warning or to review a product/service. I've reviewed unfavourably the service I got from Travel Republic/Onlineflorida in the hope that they may review some of their 'selling' policies.

PS Perhaps I should add that I was extremely careful not to be rude to either of the staff I spoke with on the 'phone - company policy isn't their fault after all.

You're not going until 2013 - so why have you cancelled them and lost out on a good deal. They haven't taken your money fraudulently, they are simply waiting for stock to come in and then you will get your tickets - it's not like you can use them yet, or did you just want them to look at !!

Tamiami - I didn't lose out on the offer, Travel Republic sold me something I later discovered they did not even have to sell at the time they advertised it. I cancelled and purchased the same tickets from American Attractions for £489.23.

Of course I didn't want to sit looking at the tickets, I merely wanted what I'd paid for - perhaps I might have agreed to wait for delivery even further passed the contractual arrangement if they had not been so fast to take payment (or bothered to keep me informed)!

If you are happy to pay for goods a merchant doesn't have then that's your prerogative of course.

Interesting that neither yourself, nor meer53 have stated that you've used this company with no problems - just both wondering why I was concerned about nearly £500 gone with no goods arriving. Not unlike the 'company line'.

I am hoping there may be a bit of competition so prices come back down on the Ulimate tickets for 2013 as prices certainly have gone up from 2012 ones. These are UK only tickets and will almost certainly always be available despite your worries, the 14 for 7 is a bit of a headliner really as it has been available for a number of years as very few people from UK fo for 7 days to Orlando I guess

Have used TR for hotels before and no problems and to be honest their explanation above seems reasonable as its so far in advance especially as you can't physically use tickets until 1/1/13 at earliest. Maybe communciation issues

    Enjoy your trip planning
  • im not sure what the issue was, id be happy to wait, you couldnt use them yet anyway which is why i guess there response says i wasnt aware there was an urgency...??
i myself am waiting for tickets, but i know there paid for and will be here shortly .x

It's a shame you feel you have had a bad experience with travel republic. I ordered our last 2 trips tickets from travel republic and we have never had a problem and all the times we've been over the last 4 years (maybe even further back than that) theyve had the 14 days for 7 so mayeb if you enjoy the holiday this time may be worth rememebering for next time and saving your pennies for interest in your bank rather than buying so far in advance! I can understand your worrying the 'offer' not being available but its been around forever. Also a lady from my studio has booked numerous holidays (3 a year!) with travel republic since i can remember no problem!

Enjoy your trip and the magic of disney :)

Now I know Disney is about wishes and dreams but I think you are hoping too much with this one! Prices to come down on Disney tickets?! Madness I tell you, madness!!! :rotfl: They don't need to discount, muppets like us who are willing to pay thousand's of pounds to stand next to a large rodent with huge grins on our faces are queuing up to go!

That said, the free dining promotion over the past few years has been a godsend, I'm dreading when that disappears!
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!!

What i meant was that you can always get the offer from somewhere, not necesarily from TR. We've been to Florida several times and have never ordered our tickets so far in advance. We've ordered from Travel Republic, Travel City, Undercover Tourist and some others i can't remember and never had any problems with any of them.

The fact that they didn't have 2013 tickets in stock is quite understandable as far as i'm concerned, and think that if you'd waited you would have received your tickets when they received them. If you paid by CC you would have got your money back if they'd gone bust anyway.

You're making harsh comments about a company that aren't justified.
