uzuria :wave:Welcome to the mad house_party_
I feel your pain.. I really need to pull the cooker out and do underneath it and behind it. It hasn't been done in ages. Dread to think what I'll find there
I just googled Stardrops, and it looks like you can get all different kinds now, so a bit of 'choice anxiety' creeping in :rotfl: I see Amazon do an ammonia one for £1.32 plus P&P
lolacocacola, No, I don't know anyone with a steam cleaner, unfortunately. Are they big? Just wondering, would I be able to lift it on top of the kitchen cupboard, lol.
welcome uzuria :wave:0 -
Hi everyone. Back from work and have chilled out for an hour and sorted/printed some holiday info for a friend, so have been productive. Before work I cleaned the kitchen, including some shelves and a window I wouldn't have bothered with this week, so thank you for the impetus given by this thread.
An easy meal tonight, on work days we often have something we've (I've!) prepared earlier, with fresh veg or salad, as I'm usually shattered.
Lamewolf - I like my shelves arranged just so because I'm funny like that! I think I must be a frustrated shopkeeper in another world!! I think I would get on with your OH, though, as you have mentioned how much he likes his cup of tea! When I worked with a now ex-colleague, she always said I was her favourite person to work with.
When I asked if it was because of my hard work, sense of humour, pleasant personality, etc etc she 'none of those, you are a tea-aholic, like me'!!! (Always thought it was my good looks!!!).
Uzuria, welcome, I am a newbie too! The very best advice I can give is to get going when you first get in from work, it's amazing how much you can do before hardly taking your coat off. I used to work very long hours and found that once I sat down, that was it, I didn't want to move! Good luck to you both.
Valli - that shocking news about the parent of one of your children, how awful, for everyone there, as well as the child.
Good thoughts coming my way to everyone, I'm going to watch a film after tea, and relax tonight after the excitement of all that tennis! x0 -
Evening all and welcome Uzuria
j.e.j have you tried squirting on neat washing up liquid and rubbing that in or a strong solution of soda crystals
Valli such sad news
Just digesting dinner then to tidy up the kitchen from dinner. I'll do the lists first as DH has just got home and will want to paint the wall behind my pc in a minute. Now where shall I send you all cleaning tomorrow. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Valli that's so sad, how old is the child? It's so hard for them to get their little heads around. Death is still such a taboo in our society I really don't think we are geared up to cope with it. Or to help others cope with it.
Winstons wish is supposedly very good, although my children are a little young. I've heard children from 5 or 6 onwards benefit from their help. And I think bereavement counselling can be arranged through schools now? Although perhaps worth waiting until the new school year?
I hope the other parent has support through the holidays :-( so very sad

Tragic news, valli, my heart goes out to all concerned :A
The bereaved parent may find the Sudden Death Support Association of some help/comfort:
0118 988 9797
An organisation to help relatives & close friends of people who die suddenly. It is run by people who have been bereaved by sudden and tragic loss.
I was given a leaflet in the hospital when my OH died. They try to match the bereaved person with someone similar (eg age, sex, length of time together etc). I wanted to volunteer immediately but you had to be at least two years past the bereavement.
I have been channelling my inner valli today; everything I have picked up has been put away immediately, NOT just put downIt works, ladies.
I have done loads today, lots of washing, drying, folding, decluttering, wiping, organising, budgeting etc etc.
Love & happy vibes to all xx*If you have nothing nice to say... say nothing*"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Martin Luther King Jr0 -
