If you ask me, all the gender stuff is a complete red herring. As is length of service / years of experience etc etc.
The key point is that the boss, as the boss, has the right to run the business however he/she feels fit. And the employee, as the employee, should do what they are asked to do in the way they are asked to do it.
Some bosses may take a consultative approach and choose to involve the employee in deciding the best way to do things. Others may be more dictatorial and just tell the employee what to do. Regardless, the employee will find their life a whole lot easier if they work with the boss rather than against them.
I'm also in the position of having taken 'a step backwards' in my career, and there are many many occasions when I think I could do things 'better' than my boss. But that's not what I'm here to do, and hard as it sometimes is to accept that, it's what I have to do in order to maintain a positive working relationship - which at the end of the day is what both my boss and I want.0 -
