Hi, I work in the travel Industry( 20 + years), have never been into playing games and have always awarded my staff on their ability and hard work; Bonuses, Educationals etc.
Now semi retired and living overseas, I thought I'd found the perfect job with a rapidly expanding Tour Operator, great Hours and pay etc, BUT , I am perceived as a threat by the person that used to run the operation single handed(until I joined),I have made it perfectly clear on more than one occasion that despite my greater experience,I'm not after her job, but still the critisism continues ( and without wishing to sound big headed), truth be told, I really could run rings round her and improve the efficiency of the company, But I'm happy with my hours etc, I have always believed and preached covering your colleagues mistakes and correcting them, thus not inconveniencing Clients, but the rare mistake that I make is highlighted and emailed to company Directors, whilst Hers go by the wayside, what's the answer?
Thanks
I'd suggest that you don't assume that "female bosses" are all alike. And actually, you not only sound like a big head, but also a sexist pig of a big head. How very big of you to let her know that despite how superior you are, you are not after her job. I am sure she feels alot better after that chat. Whatever your purported previous skill and experience is, you are now "Johnny come lately". Get over yourself.0 -
Why does it matter that she is female? What exactly are you trying to imply?
In my experience, bosses can be good or bad regardless of their sex.A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Started 15/03/2011.

If you are so brilliant, how come there are any mistakes to highlight to the Directors? If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

It's obviously "her" fault. Female bosses are like that, you know. You make a little mistake and just because you told her that you are so much superior to her, and shed loads better at her job than she is, they take it so personally... Of course, men are so much better at dealing with these sorts of situations. They'd have just told you to take your superior attitude for a hike and sacked you....0 -

Your entire post could have been better worded. 20 years experience can also mean outmoded and outdated! And you implied you were superior to her throughout! In fact, there wasn't a lot of implying either! If you think we misunderstood you, perhaps you shoukd consider whether the communication fault is on your side?0

MB is putting people down, laying down her law and being insensitive towards others. Nothing new.
MB - when you have something to say, please do it with some class. You are constantly pro-employer. In my most recent situation, everything you said and/or advised was completely ripped apart by the union rep and a good friend of mine. Everything you thought would happen - did not happen. Everything you said I and my imaginary wife do - was ignored. And in the end do you know what happened? We won on the points we raised.
All im saying is, stop being so hard faced on here. The no nonsense approach works well sometimes but if you persist with this type of attitude you will lose absolutely all respect.0 -
