24 Hour cafe in Leeds?

No, they shut at midnight, earlier out of term time. Good idea though!
According to their website, Tesco Seacroft is open 24h. There are probably other supermarkets too if you do a search; can't recall whether you have a car and are able to reach ones further from your house.
Does the hospital have a 24h cafe for visitors (which is what you'd be at that time of night)?
Hope you find something. x0 -
What about a 24 hour gym? Even if you just walked on a treadmill it could also help your mental health.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Another problem with Tesco is that my mobility is severely limited at the moment, so walking around isn't a good idea.
I daren't have painkillers in the house so I'm in a lot of pain right now.peachyprice wrote: »Does the hospital have a 24hr cafeteria?
Not that I know of - when I was in A&E a couple of weeks ago and they were ready to send me home I begged to be allowed to stay, even if it was just sitting in a chair in the corner and they didn't say anything about one. And I think the hospital worker who I discussed it with would have known if there was (although not necessarily - organisation is a bit of a shambles). What exactly is wrong? Do you feel anxious and just can't shut down?
I'm the same but if you are under hospital care I guess just lying in bed with some music wouldn't be too helpful?
Do you have to stick to the leeds area as I could only find a 24 hr one in machester? Is there a car park you could sit in so you could just breathe and not be shut in at home?
Manchester would be too far, just from the expense of petrol to get there.
Lying in bed with music wouldn't really help, I'm a bit beyond that. I've got a few big problems at the moment, and I'm just laying thinking about them. Just about every aspect of my life is up in the air right now and so all I can think is 'what if'. Which then becomes 'why bother'.
The car park idea's a good one, the nurse suggested just driving around but I prefer the car park idea. Especially if I can find a well lit one so I can read.Is there a friend or relative who'd be happy to let you have a key to their house, so you could drive over and sit and read in their house while they stayed in bed?
One of my problems is how awful my family are being. Besides, they live in Scarborough so even if they were supportive it's not practical. I don't have any friends.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

The all night supermarket thing sounds like a good idea if you can cope with that. If only they had their cafes open in the early hours they would do roaring trade I am sure.
Can you drive to a safe/nice place with a flask, cd and book and maybe watch the sun come up, or is it other people you need around you at these times? That sounds like a good idea, I could wander out into the Moors. I don't really need other people around me.According to their website, Tesco Seacroft is open 24h. Sorry, the bit about them shutting at midnight was about the libraries. What about a 24 hour gym? Even if you just walked on a treadmill it could also help your mental health.
Again, my physical health is suffering a lot right now due to not being able to take painkillers and by pushing myself to do too much - I have CFS and just getting to the hospital is draining. I've asked for a referral to the gym at the mental hospital though so that someone qualified can work with me to develop a training plan which is suitable for all my health needs. I'm just waiting for the paperwork to go through for that.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
the McDonalds in Kirkstall is 24 hours hun and not just at weekends, its a bit out of city centre so less chance of drunkards and there is parking. Also if you felt up to it you could see a late viewing at the cinema in the same place, they are often very quiet xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions, I know it seems like I'm making excuses for a lot of them, but even the ones that aren't suitable right now might be in the future so I'm making a note of them.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

All big supermarkets have those mobile ride along machines, mobility vehicles, and I use those. I can't cope with going to those places in the day, but at night I can park in the empty, lit car park. Get in a shopping vehicle, have a mosey about, pick up essentials and bargains, treat myself to something. Then go and sit in my car with my shopping, flask and book with music on my cd player.
It doesn't make the big issues I face go away and I still have to go home to them, but I get a break.
Are you getting support to deal with the big issues!

I know messing with your body clock won't help long-term, but to get you through this crisis could you tweak your waking/sleeping times so the middle of the night which you find scary is your purposeful awake time?
Maybe go to sleep earlier in the evening then spend the wee small hours fully dressed with all the lights on and watching TV, cleaning, doing chores etc?0 -
That's fantastic thanks, I'd googled 24 hour cafes leeds and found a review site where someone said the Kirkstall Road one isn't open all night every night, but after checking their own website it is.
Thanks!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Personally I'm the opposite, can barely cope with leaving my house to visit the corner shop a 5 minute walk away so I can't offer any advice
But I just wanted to say I hope you start getting sorted soon, and that the hospital helps! x
