You don't have to get the HC1 form from the hospital, you can get it from the DWP. Send off for it anyway then when it comes you may have more idea if it's worth sending back.
Nothing ventured, and all that. They may say no, but you're no worse off for having tried, and knows, you might even get a yes, for at least part of it.
Phone the NHS Formsline on 0845 610 1112, textphone number 08700 102 870All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Thanks but I'm on income support so I don't need a HC1. The hospital are saying that there's no funds for patient transport at all. I think I'm going to get in touch with pals about it.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I think it's hitting me that I'm not going to be able to come out of all this with any kind of relationship with my dad or sister.
I know that it's been so much better when we've not been talking, but it's a bit scary to think that it'll be forever. Especially since I don't have friends who I see regularly.
I guess I need to accept that having no-one is better than having people who make me feel so bad. But I've no idea how I go about that.
I suppose I'm just scared. And confused.Don't think about not having a relationship with them ever again if that's too scary, just think about what you have to do to get through this month, this week, or even this night.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Thanks again everyone. I was having a wobble last night, things had built up and I was getting upset about losing my car today. It's been hard over the last few months facing up to how ill I am. First when I was filling in the DLA form, then going through it with my outreach worker, then my GP, then reading their letters. Then with the car going and realising that if I didn't have mobility problems I could walk everywhere - the hospital and town etc are all within easy walking distance for someone with no problems.
Anyway, I've come up with a compromise proposal for the hospital. I'll pay for taxis there. There's food at the hospital, they cook every lunchtime and then there's stuff for sandwiches. Most of the time though I can't have any because it's upstairs and I can't often manage the stairs. So if someone can bring food down to me that'll cut my overall expenses by a lot (also I wont have to pay for food shopping to be delivered). Then when it comes to leaving, if a member of staff could help me get to the bus, and see me on it, and I take extra meds, then I should be able to get home, if I have my rollator with me and can have regular stops on the way.
I think that's pretty fair. And hopefully I can get over my problems with using the bus too.
I've also been in touch with the solicitor, sister's going to get some estate agents round next week and we'll choose one and put the house on the market. So things there are getting moving.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

This sounds totally fair, Ames. It's really encouraging to see that you are taking initiative, working to solve problems and overcome obstacles with your own ideas. Hopefully they'll work with you on this.0 -
I've been full of cold and not able to make it into the hospital since Wednesday. I tried to phone them but it seems the number they call me from doesn't accept incoming calls.
I've just gone to look at the PALS site and it doesn't seem that the one I need to speak to is contactable. Just by phonecall, which is a problem for me, besides which I want to have something in writing - from experience, the MH department just tell PALS what they want to hear then ignore them. This is the site, I don't know if I'm maybe reading it wrong? I also find it quite shocking that they're not accessible etc.

In other news, mum's house is going on the market in the next week or two - sister's getting EAs in at the end of this week after she and dad have cleaned and tidied it to within an inch of it's life. Which brings the next big fight - the right to buy a house and not have it classed as deprivation of capital. Even if I win that, finding somewhere suitable in my price range in my GP catchment area is going to be a challenge, to put it mildly. I've been looking at houses in towns around Leeds and I could get so much more for so much less. I'm not sure how to check out things like GPs and crime rates etc though.
Anyway, enough rambling.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Not sure if this site may help, might give you an idea of which doctors are any good in your area:
https://www.iwantgreatcare.org/en/search/doctors
and not sure if this might help advise on crime rates in your area:

I don't know if it's any help/assistance to you but when I was struggling with going outside and being around people someone suggested just being on a bus for one or two stops to see how it was and trying to build myself up to an actual journey. I'm not sure how much it would cost to be staying on a bus for a few stops then taxis from where you get off. I was advised this when buses were cheaper and I didn't have an option of a taxi so I'm not sure how it would work out cost wise for you. Turns out I was so scared of walking past people to get off the bus or saying excuse me that I had to stay on until it was either get off here or end up wherever/don't go home :rotfl:that sounds so terrible now as I get buses so often and I'm out of the house so much.
It sounds very positive that things with the house are moving along.0
