You misunderstand me, I have in fact signed up to the contract.

You have a certain amount of time to cancel, haven't you? IME taking out a mobile contract that can't be capped for a youngster who won't be getting the bill is a very risky thing to do (we gave our son a capped, 500 min/ul texts sim/phone deal and he used the 500 mins in just over a week!). How about buying the phone upfront and adding a SIM only deal to it that can be capped? Lots of usage apps knocking about but you will need to look at your youngster's phone to see what has been used - potential conflict/invasion of non bill payer's privacy? :D

Thanks but up front cost of phone would be £300+, but even with contract is under £200 so think i'd rather take the risk, and try to lessen that with the app i'm trying to find!

Seriously, if we had given our son a non capped contract his first month's phone bill would have probably been well in excess of £100! Just check out what the tariff charges for 'excess' minutes are (often up to 40p/min) and shudder. I tell you, it could prove a mightily costly and stressful time. And no quick way out of a contract as opposed to a 30 day rolling sim deal.

PS without wishing to worry you further, friends of ours gave their 2 sons a mobile contract for Xmas, plenty of mins/texts/data as well. First month's combined bill for both of them? £750! They had apparently been letting all their friends make calls/go online on their phone thinking they had unlimited calls and data (or so they claimed)!

What phone have you got for them then? Incase you missed my post you may not even need an app.

Did indeed miss it, it's an Wildfire (not even an S) with Android 2.2.1

Thanks, but again as I said i'd rather take the risk, I will be giving her warnings and if she messes up the phone will be taken back!

Without seeming to be rude but your friends in the argument and their kids must be a bit stupid or have more money than sense! I will be checking regularly in the first month or two, whether I find the app or not, as this is when it most likely to go belly up!

Good luck is all I can say. ;) You clearly are not totally confident of her toeing the line or you wouldn't have started the thread in the first place (sorry if that sounds rude, it wasn't meant to).

PS My 'stupid' friends' kids had contracts with 1500 mins/ul texts and 1GB data. Scary.

Definitely not confident as it's easily done - I done it, me Wife, eldest and middle one have done it too. Which is why as i said i'll be monitoring at first but sure i'll slip into not doing that which is why I want the app as a back up!

1500 mins and they went £750 over, that is ridiculous. I'd have gone billy ballistic!

You could try 3gwatchdog. It won't send you email alerts. But it will display on the phone when you get close it your usage limit. The pro version had some additional features you might find useful. You can get it from the Play Store.

The above says that you do not have the contract.
Are you just making the post up like before?

Just noticed this, what are you talking about?

Reading your posts you're full of it and when people shoot you down in flames and show your comments up for what they are you do not even have the dignity to apologise or man up!

Now do yourself a favour and jog on, there;'s a goodboy (see what I did there, have to point out as you obviously have a poor grasp of English!)
