Hi All

Just ordered contract for our youngest. Bit worried about her going over and as it cannot be capped wondered if anyone knows of an app (it's Android) that will monitor usage of minutes & data and preferably send a message (text, email or whatever!) to me when it gets to a set limit?

Sure there must be one out there somewhere and if not why not!

Thanks

PJB

You can usually log online to check the monthly allowance balance, although in another thread someone mentions this is no longer available on T Mobile

Thanks but I wanted something more reliable than me having to remember to check online all the time!

The most reliable method is to check yourself, my youngest brother is always ranting about his O2 bill, suggesting THEY should contact HIM when he is close to his limit! If he is interested in keeping his bills low, then he should be proactive and at least weekly check, last week he called me and was on the phone for nearly 100mins, then the next day he rung to say the call cost him £30+ (ya don't say) me? after a few long calls I know the monthly allowance is not going to withstand that daily on a monthly basis :o
There maybe apps, but I would be wary of giving out my login details (which the app would require) to check the account.

Thanks but it's not an app that will monitor your account as such but actually be on the phone in question and monitor it this way so as not to need my login details

Since this is the first Android Phone Also make sure both of you are aware of this

These sign users up to expensive SMS services without your knowledge or permission and often run undetected until the user's bill arrives.

Many users here use the Android phone and help you with what is the best app to check malware and how to avoid it.

Ignore post #8, thegoodman has an android phone and has not personally or no anybody personally that has been affected by malware, the thread is a bout an app to manage the tariff allowance usage, don't let him railroad your thread into an iphone discussion.

anyone rading this should be aware that malware isnt just restricted to android phones.

Is your youngest old enough to take out a phone contract?
generaly its best to only take out a contract phone if the person is old enough to take it on, and the responsabilities that go with it.
there are some very good budget android phones available now that can be had for the £100 mark, and a payg phone is ideal for a young person not yet old enough to take outa contract.
That may not be much use to you now, buts its worth keeping those facts in mind.

As for your current situation this may be of some use to you

see some of the videos on this list as some deal with security and how to remotely control your phone and trace phone and lock down phone etc http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF2E689203EE62F20&feature=view_all if you dont have time then see all the videos (think 7-8 videos) by wicked4u2c on this play list and if you have time then see the rest. This list is periodically updated.
