And I believe you can now set up goodybags to autorenew when they are due to expire?

I have to say I am thinking of leaving giffgaff. Customer service very poor. Very difficult to get sensible answers to questions. Options keep changing and systems failing. You can auto renew but many people finding it does not happen and you can no longer buy goody bags with your credit or queue a bag so credit is wasted. They set up systems and then move the goalposts. Still seems cheaper but not the brilliant service some people state.
Go for it but proceed with caution I would say!

Had an iphone 3GS on Vodafone, contract expired, rang customer service to unlock phone, they have to do this through Apple, who email you within a few days. Connect to itunes, factory re-set,hey presto ' congratulations your phone is now unlocked ',appears on screen. This was free of charge, and does not cause problems with future phone updates, as would getting it jail brocken in your local precinct. Son is on GiffGaff, so far its been excellent!

I've just ported to Giffgaff, actually I ported two numbers for the two phones I have for myself and Mrs toast.

Phone #1, no problems, ported quickly, online account management works fine, no issues.

Phone #2, port took hours to complete leaving me phoneless for a day. Online account management flaky as hell, payments are accepted and then immediately rejected. Money appears on the account then disappears. There is no email or phone number only messages via your account portal, support messages appear and disappear so you have no idea if anyone is reading your requests or not.

There is a thread about it on their forum, they seem to have no idea why it happens or what to do about it.

So there you go, on the basis of phone 1 I would rate them highly, on the basis of phone 2, I wouldnt go near them, totally useless.

You get what you pay for and they are very cheap.

Been with giffgaff for quite a while so are my parents, never had any problems.
  • Been with GG for nine months now, and very happy.

For £10 a month I get 250 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited data, unlimited GG to GG calls and a free minute for every minute my phone is called by a non GG phone.

For me, that's unbeatable. Most of my family are now on GG as well to make all our calls to each other much cheaper.

It is great if o2 is good in your area.Shame about poor 3g coverage for heavier data users though.

I just would like ingo about giffgaff. Pro's and cons if any. Also what if you are using a vodafone Iphone would you have to jail break the phone and lose all warrenties or is it simple as putting in giffgaff sim card. The deals sound good for web and texts etc but would like to hear from peeps who are with giffgaff for any issues etc.

As OPs have said, definitely no jailbreak required. Just un-locking, which you existing network can do for you (for a fee of course).

Was with giffgaff, moved to ovivo. Saving £120 a year by doing so.

I've been with Giff Gaff for about a year now, after Orange decided that I had "ran out of goodwill" (seriously)

No problems with them at all. Picked up a cheap (£70) iphone3gs from ebay, it was locked to O2 so no problem.

Popped in the Giff Gaff sim and away we go. There are no call centres but you can communicate with their agents via the website. The forums are very very good, and can help with any problem you may be having.

To be honest, I've had no problems, and am really pleased with the service. £10 for 250 mins, unlimited data and unlimited texts is unbeatable.
