Why are you telling your landlord and risking being made homeless? Just let it continue as a periodic tenancy and don't mention your ex.

I agree with the others that disposing of his stuff could easily get you into hot water legally.

There are rules about how long you have to hang onto property after it's been "abandoned", and about giving notice to their owner that you propose to dispose of them.

You don't need that potential extra hassle, however tempting it might be either to you or to those who are egging you on to do it on this thread.

Yep - let him know the stuff is there, then if it gets wet/stolen/dog pee on it then it's down to him! You don't need his tat reminding you of him all the time!

What's he going to do though, realistically? Take OP to court? I'd like to see him explain to a judge why he feels she was in the wrong for wanting to feed her children when he left her without a pot to p1$$ in.

His possessions have significant cash value, and cash is something that she needs. So I suggest finding out the rules about how long she has to store the stuff until she can dispose of it, and a formal email to him requesting him to collect his things within a specified time. (The same email could also request support for the children, making it less likely that he would act on it.) The chances of him turning up to collect his things in time must be minimal, and once the deadline has passed she would be free to sell everything.

She doesn't have to store his stuff and she's perfectly entitled to sell anything she likes. They are a married couple so any assets are jointly owned. I'd put his !!!!!! up on ebay or wherever without thinking twice about it.

Any man who goes awol and tells his wife that he's leaving my bloody text message hasn't got the cojones to challenge her about his carp. Especially seeing as the OP admits he's got no money, so recourse to the law would be out of the question in any case..

His fancy woman and her parents are going to tire of his useless @rse ere long, so I'd be changing the barrels of the locks tout ruddy suite so he can't get back in.

I'm sorry but you are both wrong. A complaint to the police of theft and/or criminal damage would be completely justified in law, and a criminal prosecution could well follow.

The 'joint assets' issue does not apply in these cases. There is an additional document for the prosecution to sign before commencing a prosecution but that does not mean the offence is not made out in law.

OP, you don't need that extra hassle or fear. Concentrate on the main issues, not the revenge or the potentially dangerous (for you) behaviour encouraged on here.

Cor Blimey! I didn't realise my post would produce so many replies! Thank you all!!

I am going to box up his things and store them in the garage. IF he makes contact I will ask him if he wants them.
I truely doubt I will ever see or hear from him again. He hasn't the balls to face us.
He's not responding to any of my messages right now. Oh, apart from one - I told him that I have no money until tax credits are sorted etc. His response? "Get a crisis loan"!!!! Cheers mate!

I have to tell the landlord because we are on a joint tenancy - housing benefit will only pay my half of the rent. And the housing want his forwarding address. I have sent him an email asking him for this, I have given him a week to reply.
I don't know if I've already said this but I'm going to find out her address and forward all his mail to her. I have a surname and postcode but no house number.

I'm just glad the little ones are too young to really know what's happening and the big ones are old enough to understand completely!

Still hurts tho. But we've survived worse! At least my food bill will go down lol!
