Seller taking too long to send item

Hi the seller has 7 days to post the item and that does not include weekends. I would be wary of anyone asking instantly that their item should be sent out immediately and this would make me instantly suspicious.
I had sold a brand new mobile phone, the buyer paid instantly by paypal and then within the next couple of hours asked when the item would be sent. He had paid on Sunday so naturally assumed it would be sent out Monday, which is fair enough. What bothered me was the fact that he had asked, and plus being a unconfirmed address I told him it would be shipped out in 3-5 days to ensure payment was clear. He wrote back saying that it was unfair and that i should post immediately. I told him as the item was of high value and as per my t&c's which clearly stated unconfirmed addresses had to wait 3-5 days, he would have to wait. Anyway, come Wednesday the payment had been reversed by paypal. I had never transferred the money luckily.
Just shows my gut instincts were right and I hadnt sent it out instantly. it only took paypal 3 days to reverse the payment, no reason given. Later i emailed that guy and told him the real reason why i hadnt posted, as i had suspected. He never responded back........unfortunately I had also checked his bidding for that week and he had purchased substantial mobiles phones over that weekend from various sellers. Later on in that week he started to receive negatives for all the paypal reversals and many of the sellers were out of pocket and their item. He had scammed alot of sellers 25+.
While i understand the buyers dilemma, that unless he has a confirmed address then I wouldnt hestiate to send it out sooner. But if you have an unconfirmed address then the seller is well within his rights to take all necessary precautions.
Do you have a 'confirmed address' buyer? As you should clearly mention that to the seller as its verified.0 -
There is no point making buyers wait 3,4,5... days for a PayPal payment to clear. As soon as a buyer has sent payment (ex. e-cheques), the transaction is paid and the seller should post.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

We all understand this, but if the buyer has a unconfirmed address, then the seller should ask all necessary questions especially in high value items, as an unconfirmed address is taking a risk where paypal do not give 'protection'. Small nominal amounts are hardly worth waiting for clearance in unconfirmed instances. But a high value item I would wait.
The buyer hasnt responded to let us know whether his payment was confirmed or unconfirmed which will help his case with the seller.
However in the case of him filing 'an item not received' transaction through paypal by the time that was implemented he would already have the item anyway.
In the sellers case i would judge each buyer based on their feedback score, how long they have been on ebay and whether they had purchased large items to help make an informed decision about that buyer and whether to send the item out sooner. if they are newly registered or low feedback and suddenly purchasing high value items then i would be wary. Whats a few days if you are informed of that fact.
Buyer can only ask the seller to send out sooner and state his case.
Ebay is a scammers dream now and buyers and sellers are taking precautions, and buyers and sellers are scamming, its a shame as it wasnt like this a few years back.0 -
I have a confirmed address and am verified, payment in my paypal account shows as completed so I've not paid via an e-cheque or anything....Have good feedback on ebay too

I've sent the seller an email with a link to this thread, and highlighting the fact that the payment via paypal is immediate and has cleared. TBH, it's not like I absolutely need the phone this week, I'm just a little annoyed as to why the seller is doing this - I've done what I need to do, paid promptly, he should now ship the phone out to me - It's making ME wary of HIM. I mean looking at his feedback he's only sold low value items before this...0 -
*cough* whilst I can see it's annoying that he's not sending it till the money is in his bank account then (apart from being pointless if he carries on using Paypal - and obviously shows he doesn't know much about Paypal and Ebay rules) then threatening to leave neg feedback is not only silly but also against rules. I would suggest using the "dispatch time" feedback to 0 and say that "whilst Item was as described etc then it took X days for them to dispatch the phone despite instant Paypal payment - avoid if you need your item in less than 1-2 weeks".

yeah, I understand I was a little aggressive there, however I haven't even mentioned that to the seller yet, just posted it here to see what you guys think (And he'll end up reading this anyway since I've sent him a link to this thread) :doh:0

As you have stated its confirmed then the seller should really have looked at your feedback, the confirmed address and decided from that it was safe to send. The alternative route is advisable where it is 'unconfirmed' but in your case its all above board.
The seller seems to be sticking to one rule for all. When clear judgement could have cleared this matter quickly.0 -
Just got a reply from the seller saying "I have done it now" and he will report me to ebay and suggest I be banned for "disclosing his personal information" about him on a forum. He finished the email off by saying "I will send the phone to you when payment has cleared"
Have sent him one back saying I have disclosed no personal information about him, just simply asked for help on a forum. Have explained to him again that payment cleared last Friday when I sent the paypal payment to him and that I would appreciate it if he would send the phone out.
Sigh.0 -
