ive registered with tps but if one or two do slip through the net i usually say " can i butt in here a moment,im actually rather busy right now but am interested in what your trying to sell me...give me your home phone number and i'll be sure to contact you when it's at the most inconvenient to you..ie in the middle of corrie or when your on the loo"Bring back mark and lard NOW! or else (please) clique member no. 10 :j

I had a call from a glazing company, the caller asked if I wanted new windows...
"No, Sorry." I replied, "I've just had new ones fitted." (Truth)
"What about French windows?"
"I've got two sets already." (Truth)
"What about about a conservatory? Any plans for one of those?
"No, I have decking."
"What?"
"I said I have decking. It's just been put down so I won't need a conservatory."
"You have what?"
"Decking..."
"Decking?..."
"Yes..."
"What's Decking?"
After desperately trying to control my laughter (and disbelief) I managed to explain what decking is. Needless to say, I was not tempted to purchase any product from this salesman! :rotfl:The early bird gets the worm, the second mouse gets the cheese!

I was once rung by a local hotel and she started the phone call with
"Hello this is *** from The Marine. It's been 2 months now so could you come in and pay for the wedding reception"
Me "....... what....????"
I talked to her for ages trying to convince her that I hadn't had ANY wedding reception EVER but she didn't believe me. I hung up in the end.
I asked Mr D when he got in from work if he had snuck off and got married without me!!
THEN
She rang back the next day and asked again! Gobsmacked.
Mr D spent ages on the phone one day to one rep saying "No I'm not the home owner, no she's not here etc etc" in the end the guy said "well who are you?" His reply.... the Head Gardener!0 -
I used to be a Financial Advisor and have found this to be a very useful answer to get rid of secured loan companies, so I just change my 'previous employer' each time to match the caller.
e.g. I got phoned yesterday by a will-planning service (I am only 41 and we do have wills already BTW). I just said I used to work for a Solicitor and would contact him if ever I wanted any wills advice. Works every time.
My 13 year old son has fun with them! He has a low voice and if they ask if he is the homeowner he always says yes and lets them rabbit on a bit, then puts the phone next to an animated Scooby Doo toy which plays 'we wish you a Merry Christmas' in Scooby's voice. Oh how we laugh!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

When I was living at home, and before we signed up tot he TPS we got loads of these. Problem was that most of them came between 5:30-6:30 PM, before my mum got home. If the phone rang I would, of course, answer it, only to be asked "Is your mummy or daddy at home?" This wasn't that long ago - I'm now 28. Guess I sound much younger on the 'phone lol.0

Oh how I have laughed at these posts!!!
Reminds me of a call I received last year.....
Caller -Hello Miss 'Topsy'
(I had had a spate of cold calls)
Topsy - Before you start, I don't need life insurance, pet insurance, home insurance, critical cover, a will written, a new phone, windows, a conservatory.....Went on for about a minute saying what I didn't need....
Every so often caller tried to interrupt...she had no chance
When I finished....
Caller- Miss Wallace...this is 'company' we are just ringing up to confirm the details of your drivers for your school trip tomorrow....
OMG did I die of embarresment!
Still not lived it down!!

I used to have great fun with that one when I was living at my mums.
Caller: Hello is Mr and Mr CAFC there?
Me (sweet and lovely) : erm no
Caller: Could I speak to your Mummy or Daddy:
Me: They're not here
Caller: Will they be back soon
Me: yes..........
Caller: When do you think they'll be back sweetie?
Me: Dunno
Caller: Did they go far?
Me: not sure
Caller: When did they go out:
Me: Monday (or 2 days previous)
Caller: errrrr are you on your own in the house?
Me: Yes
Caller: Noone else is with you (getting a bit worried now)
Me No............. long pause.............. I'm hungry
My mum told me I was mean playing with peoples minds like that.....
Although now she wishes I was still living at home because she has to answer the phone!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

LOVE them, don't get many these days though
My favourites include hammering the keypad, pretending I'm about three and the classic...
"I can't hear you"
"Hang on I'll turn the phone up"
Then shout down the phone really loudly, "is that better?"No longer using this account for new posts from 20130
