And one assumes each one manages to avoid hitting a stationery object. (devils advocate)

Being a devils advocate in return. Of course you have been to the Asda branch in question and have seen numerous vans manage to avoid causing any damage.

    30 all.

Neither of us know what happened. Pure speculation by both of us, but hopefully questions which will help the OP.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Sorry for not replying but I have been out measuring etc. I know for a fact the booth has been hit before as here are dents plus they have bollards which have also been scraped.

My dads transit measures just over 6ft, which by my calculations isn't 3m!

I am a new user so cant post links or images :(

Contact the local council authority and make a complaint using the information. Then look to pursue claim against Asda for the damage to the van.

There are building regulations that apply to garages, then are enforced by local council authorities. Your evidence would suggest that Asda are in breach of these.

We are waiting for them to request his details in writing, that way we have a person to deal with in ASDA. I will then take it further! I just wanted to make sure it was worth taking further or just give in.

Is it the small overhang on the "driv thru" building?

Was there any extra canopies being used on the day that aren't in your picture?

If your dad's van is a tipper, did it not have the metal mesh sticking up on the outside behind the cabin?

I thought you were talking about a canopy similar to that that they have at this particular branch: http://goo.gl/maps/FS8z I wonder how the truck pictured filling up on the forecourt got on?

Yes the small overhang, I know it isn't much and that's what I was concerned about. He says he never went up on the curb either.

He did have the metal mess and I measured that and in total is just over 6ft.

He isn't sure how he hit it either, he just knows he didn't rid the curb. I am guessing it was the metal mesh dacouch mentioned but like I said that measures just over 6ft from floor to top of the mesh.

I haven't requested it yet but will once we have had a letter from them.
