So the mortgage valuer was here five minutes, hardly spoke and left.

The estate agent was here for ages and said she'd put it on for £290 with the hope of getting £275, I can't see us getting that tbh. Interesting to see what the mortgage value is, darn sight lower I bet.

As expected the mortgage people have valued our house at £240, a lot less than the £290 quoted by the estate agents. It'll be interesting to see what somebody would actually pay!!!

In the meantime my re-mortgage application with FD is on hold!!

We went to see a very nice house yesterday, which quite frankly we can't afford and there are too many ducks to line up to get in a position to afford it, would mean selling our house, selling some assets, and my MIL buying into it, with a view to living in the annexe in a few years, shame really, the house is perfect in many ways.

Spending the morning doing some painting on the outside of the house, then a 4th birthday party this afternoon, have a nice Sunday everyone.

Haven't posted in nearly two weeks.

    Positives

Had our week away in Majorca, which was great - really enjoyed it.
Had the letter confirming my bonus today so 10 days to wait until that and a hefty OP.

    Negatives

All a bit up in the air on the moving front - we just can't afford what we want.

Glad your holiday was good and great news on the bouns/OP front.

I hope you manage to work out a plan for what to do next with moving. Are you still set on doing it or can you make do with your present home for longer?

Thanks SD, Hi Fothers, I think we'd still like to move, we'd like more parking and a bigger garden, the houses we'd like are outside of our budget really Mrs QBW would like us to take on a bigger mortgage, but I'm thinking we'll need to move to a slightly smaller house in the area we want, stay for 5 years and get stuck into the mortgage and look to move then. Looking at double moving costs then though, any advice greatly received?

I am by by no way an expert on the subject but I think you would need to really work out your figures into how much moving twice in a short space of time would cost. Not just the actual van costs and things but stamp duty, estate agents, conveyancing and all the rest of it. If you worked all that out would it be any more or less than the bigger mortgage?

Also, just because these properties are on at a particular price, they are maybe not selling anywhere near that price? I am not up on the property market at the moment so don't know what things are selling with in relation to asking price, and also I assume it varies wildly between areas.

If it were me it would be another new spreadsheet to add to the collection;)

Another option would be a property in the area Mrs QBW likes where there is enough space for an extension at the end of 5 year mortgage attack phase.

6 days to go until pay day and £70 to last me, even with a night out on Friday this should be OK. Feel pretty chuffed that I've managed to keep out of the red on a consistent basis now for the last 3 or 4 months. Saving me £20 a month at least. Just wondering how long it will be before I start having enough left at the end of the month, to OP some more, would like to get a grand in my spanish account to act as an easy access buffer.

The aim is to have a grand left in my current account on the day before pay day in August!!!
