I know quite a few of you have chronic conditions, some of you with Fibromyalgia like me and i'm wondering how you cope with it?
Especially Fibro-fog, i'm going through a bad time with it and it's really getting me down
K xxI've had ME for over a quarter of a century and I manage to stagger on with lots of lists, an A4 diary and the occasional major screw-up as the evening when my book group turned up and I'd forgotten they were coming and was blanching veg.
I sent one of them up to the shop with my purse for milk and treats and just laughed it off.
Some days are better than others but it's a case of managing with lots of written prompts and trying not to get too upset about the occasional spectacular scr*w up.
I've been known to write memos on the back of my hand and stick big notices on the inside of the front door at eye-level so that I don't leave without whatever it is.
Be kind to yourself is my best advice. Nobody's perfect and everybody forgets stuff some of the time.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Missrlr those are some serious numbers in your sig. : (
Fuddle they are staying Sun-Wed, leaving before the screaming hoards descend for a halloween party, LOL! It's half term next week so they will take the children out for a couple of days, so at least he'll be able to prepare in peace if he has more interviews. I guess I need to think what to cook while they're here too as my Dad has a few food intolerances.
GQ I also sometimes write notes on my hand and post-its on the door and I don't have ME, just chaos! Very tough to have ME for 25 years. : (
Pooky he was made redundant in March 2010 - although we had our own business for about 18 months it didn't make any money. He's been actively looking since May.
PS. My grandma has a notebook next to her phone and writes down anything of the smallest importance.0 -
lilmisskitcat I dont have experience of fibro fog - thank goodness - but at my tender age of 53  I forget things and make lists too. From having a Dad who suffered a stroke he found one of those page a day diaries a blessing. He wrote everything down on the actual day and a couple of days before an event as a reminder. You could write a meal plan on the day you want it and a shopping lists before it to cover a couple of days. Oh uses a calendar on his bedroom door and a duplicate in the living room for his meds etc. Hope this helps. have you been on a fibro chat room I hear theres some good advice on there from fellow sufferers. xxClearing the junk to travel light

The kiddies would like 'squirty' cream on top of their hot chocolate. I've found the aerosol cream at £1.48. Is there a cheaper or even less processed way of making yummy hot choc with cream on the top?
Can't find the big jars of AsdA smart price golden syrup online.0 -
Lists...LISTS!!! I have lists of lists and lists of lists of lists. I am very organised, I have to be coz I don't have the physical energy to botch things or do them twice.
I am totally inert without my lists, post it notes, calendar, diary and phone reminders.
I have a passport with my photo on it and my name in it so I know who I am at all times.
I don't even have a disease to account for it either ... flippin' useless without a list, note or dingly bell.0 -
Thanks everyone
I'm going to try and set a little time aside each evening to make a to-do list and plan the meal for the next day. I ust get so frustrated with myself sometimes
FUDDLE - My local Asda have stopped doing the Smartprice golden syrup now, i have to go to Tesco for their value one  They don't do Smartprice scotch pancakes anymore either

Scotch oancakes are very very easy to makeand probably as cheap. This is the recipe I've used for years...
4oz Self raising flour
pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder/bicarb
1 egg - beaten
1/2 pint sour milk. I use ordinary milk with a splash of cider vinegar usally. It reacts with the bicarb/baking powder to make the bubbles that make them light and fluffy. Sometimes I use plain yog and make it up to half pint, or buttermilk from turning cream into butter is brilliant too.
Make a batter. Grease a frying pan, but don't leave oil in it. Drop about three or four tablespoons of batter in at a time. and leave until the bubbles have set, before flipping over to cook the other side. You'll know what this means when you see it.....
Kate
PS you can double it and stick them in the freezer too!0 -
Thanks Kate, i do make them some weekends but the packets were handy to have as a standby in the freezer for a quick breakfast/after-school snack.
Quite a few of the value stuff is disappearing it seems
