Has anyone ever used Blinkbox? You sign up and pay per program/movie you buy or rent. I had a look today and there is loads of programs free, so worth a look for anyone without a TV.

Fuddle - I think that in most cases depression is caused/increased by peoples jobs so they are off work. You however have taken the job to make you feel better so its reversed as it were. There are certains jobs you cannot do on AD though and would not be allowed to work, machinery etc.

Got even busier day tomorrow and Friday looking worse too - was really looking forward to next week being half term and having a sleep in and generally relaxing, but my mum has announced that as their bathroom being ripped out she is planning on spending all day here every day and worse she plans on arriving when the workmen arrive at 7.30am each day!!

Excellent - mum can come round and deal with the kids while you sleep in and have lazy bath etc...

This weather...I've put the thermals on and socks and I am still cold and though I should not spend I am going out for a look around the SM just for something to do...

Popps you need to feel needed, we all do. Why don't you do some voluntary work? just a few hours each week. There are so many places that need help I'm sure you would find somewhere you liked, and I'm sure your mum would have/is (depending on your spiritual beliefs) been very proud of you for doing it too.
  • KIDKAT - You just can't tell from a photo because you can't smell it or see the size and sometimes they colour if they are scratched, all indicators of the species but all different. Think you are safest taking pooch to the vet and letting the vet see the fungi. Let us know how your friends doggie gets on would you please? I'll worry anyway but would be good to know what happens. Thanks Lyn xxx.

    Evening all

We have Netflix, it's fab for series and films, can always find something to watch (the advantage being that it can be on main tv through the WII, IPads/laptops etc)

Got a lovely big pork joint YS to £3.50 yesterday, roasted it up fr tea tonight, plenty of left overs for another roast meal and pie fillings. Nice to have a decent bit of meat midweek too.

Spent £20 on old textiles today in CS, have tons, 5 double/kingside duvet covers, tablecloths, sheets, pillow cases and some fabric remnants. All to use for patchwork. A big expense now but will keep me occupied for months to come. I will sell a couple of quilts eventually to make my money back, but for now I've got lots of presents to make.

Shelia. - hope the deer watching went well, so sorry to hear about your doggy. Our old cat had a stroke last year, he was walking sideways and was generally not with it, the vet said leave him and see how he goes and he lasted a good 4/5 months more before the next stroke made him blind over night, at 18 he wasn't able to cope and he declined over 2 days before we asked the vet to come and be kind. Enjoy the time you have left with her x.

Its cold here to and im now infront of the fire, best place......

If your so cold with all your thermals on why are you going out?, you could put the heating on for an hour or 2 and be nice and warm, instead of going out and spending, I dont see the point in that espeically when its so dark and bleak outside.....Yes its up to you, but its not very OS if you are so short of dosh and worrying about the future........sheila

Thanks Sheila...it comes and goes. I won't be spending a lot...maybe £2 at most...It will be warmer in the SM and a quick walk(well quick for me)may warm me up but I do agree with you in general...

Sounds like you're looking to fill a hole pops. Spending won't make you any happier... a very, very sure sign of a tad depression. You would be better off thinking about any old programmes you like to watch. Then you would have occupied yourself, stayed warm, bought something but something that will fill that hole if it opens up again.

Speaking of the AD's. I was talking to a mum tonight about depression and we were nodding and sharing notes on it. I told her I had started a new job and she was mystified. She thought you shouldn't work while on AD's and I should consider quitting for the good of my health. My job makes me happy! Do depressed people not work generally?

Think you are right and I can see it myself but my depression is very mild. I feel reasonably ok at this minute. I find I feel not so bad the later it gets at night and mornings seem ok my sleep isn't troubled. It seems to hit about lunchtime/afternoons...

If strong enough with/without AD's if you are well enough work can really help just as my few treats have(The theatre)music works for me too and getting out into some company but some depression works the other way and adds to the problem. It's an individual thing. And Kidcat makes good points. A couple of weeks ago Denise Welsh was talking about it and the other night David Walliams and it was interesting hearing their take on the problem.

I have found all kinds to watch via You Tube, 4OD, BBC I Player and ITV but Blinkbox may be useful if there is Free stuff available...thanks.

Everyone is different so if it works for you fuddle then go for it! Some people are better not going to work and others are better getting out of the house.

Pops - is there a charity shop you could help in nearby? They are always looking for volunteers, and it would get you into company, and save on your heating while you are out. You may even get some bargains as well :)

Waving, that's me. I'll have a look at BlinkboX...

Fuddle I know many people who are depressed and work. Many also don't tell their employers.I've seen people who on first sight you would not think are depressed, but they are. I am very good at putting on an act and do work now, but in the privacy of my own home it's another matter. I tend to withdraw from people, friends and family, so no-one knows how badly I've felt or feel. I saw a programme the other day and found out Alistair Campbe££ suffers from depression, Ruby WaX does.

There is a difference IMHO, with depression as an illness and grieving. Grieving is a natural process as hard as it is. It's when it becomes excessive or goes on for too long that Ad's might be appropriate. I've had 3 breakdowns, the last one more recently when I realised I wasn't coping. I was pretending I was coping, which is all well and good but my home life was very different to my outside life. Seeing a counsellor now, which is helpful.

    It's pouring with rain here!
