GQ I now have a mental image of Smileys Bruno and Tess in the park wearing Basques, Supenders and flasher macs - this is not a good thing to do to a fellow dog lover, Docky thinks its bloomin marvellous and now he's jealous!!!!!!!

HELP PLEASE - Docky is quite right in saying I am a Numpty like a choklit teapot!!! How do we put a picture on this thread He who knows cannot work it out and it's out of my realm of experience then you can see who's nattering in lurcher at you - Thanks in anticipation Lyn x
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: LMAO! That's some image. I do so wish I could draw cartoons as I can mentally see Smileyt (whom I have never met) in that outfit with the two dogs in matching ensembles.............

Can't help with the pix enquiry; I'm so [STRIKE]backward [/STRIKE] erm old style that I still only have a film camera and haven't the foggiest clue about how these clever people get pix onto the thread. Someone will stroll by in a minute with the solution, I'm sure.

Believe me, if you saw me in basque and suspenders you too would be singing (or rather screaming), "I'm going to run away from you." And I have a hard enough time getting Bruno and Tess into their raincoats without trying to fit basques and suspenders and stockings onto them too. They would leave home and find another human to live with!

Welcome to new friends and welcome back Weeze - glad you sound so much more positive and that finally hubby's hobby is turning into something that won't drive you demented.

Made a lamb tagine yesterday and gave it a scant hour on the stove then wrapped it in blankets and old towels as I had to go and do the nursery run and I am pleased to report that it worked! :j DS has no back molars yet but he didn't need them as the lamb was meltingly soft and tender - you'd have thought it had been ticking over a good 3 hours on the stove so that's 2 hours of gas saved. Will be repeating the method (over and over).

I am muchly envious! We have a lovely Aldi, buy most of shopping there.

Our Aldi is being closed down in the nearish future to make way for a Morrisons.

Pleased to have a morrisons as none nearby but certainly not at the expense of our local Aldis AND the local swimming pool is going to.

    PS
OOOOH JUST GOOGLED ALDI STORES and we do have another in the next town - couldn't walk there but so lucky to have our old car so could stock up on longer life bits and go less often - just the fruit & veg that will be a shame but great news. Sooo pleased and feel silly that I didn't think to check (never go to that town)

    sq:)

I was about to comment but then saw your added piece that you have an Aldi in the next town. I wonder why yours had to close? It's hard to believe there wasn't enough business. Unless the existing one is larger and they want all consumers to support the one.

Then again when this one opens on my town we have one in Darlington approx seven miles away, another near Bishop Auckland approx five and half miles away and Spennymoor approx 4 miles away, Stockton and Durham approx 10 miles away. So we'll have six reasonably close to each other although that's no good if you haven't access to a car.

But I do wonder if any of these could be seen as being in competition with another. I would also hate to see ours close through a lack of support, then again perhaps us having so many shows how this area is struggling moneywise and they perhaps think because of this they will be more successful.

I shortened your post when quoting so I was not reproducing the whole post but hope I did not alter what you said too much but I wanted the relevant points to match my reply...

Its lovely to know that I'm not the only 'mad oul wan' (DS3's loving term for me!) in the world.

Paidinchickens....bought a jar of damson jam to-day....for €3.95! Had hoped to get some from a friend but she had no crop this year at all, so probably much the same problem in UK, as they should have been around by now....late August/September I think.

I went to Tesco recently, I normally shop at Aldi as its my nearest!, and was shocked at the prices. I used to always shop at Tesco before I moved with an occasional Asda shop and thought the prices were'nt too bad, since I moved I have shopped at Aldi as its the nearest (about 35/40mins away!) If prices go up much more what will happen? My food shopping has to have fuel prices added on as I have to travel to go shopping and fuel isn't cheap! Its all very scarery!
I tried having ASDA deliver but think that worked out more expensive, plus then appart from walking thew dogs I wouldn't leave the house which isn't good for my wellbeing. My son catches the free bus to school so no talking to other parents at the school gates. I very rarely meet anyone while out walking the dogs so I need to go into the nearest town occasionally for my own sanity!

Re the little girl missing. It's quite a bit up the coast from us, but I've been really quite struck over several things that have happened here (since we moved here) and it's not until something like that happens that you realise how incredibly small and tight-knit the communities are around here.

So, not really surprised to hear my friend in the village who works in Aber said one of her students knows her :(

It's like when one of the locals was refused cancer treatment by the NHS, she's my friends son's best mates mum, and also transpires she's my bosses best friend, and just about everyone was involved in the fund raiser they did for her.

These event rock our little villages to the core, and it's easy to forget when you've no relatives (like me!) and have come from the Big City. Things got WAY too close in the big city though once or twice too....

Anyway spoken to G and the SSL - They will phone debt line for advice, but we think best course of action is that she will wait to be evicted. Council can't say she's made herself homeless then and SSL won't have to put her on sofa. They will empty the flat as best they can, but she'll remain in residence. Thanks to Fuddle for brain pickings. She says she HAS been offered a job in private health care, but is waiting for all the checks...so lets hope that is actually what is happening, and not what she thinks is happening :( Maybe safest not to go BUPA for a bit ;)

Pooky glad your Dh is getting some help - these men dont half worry you dont they.

Shegar hugs are all I can offer, you have had a tough time xx

Stiltwalker great minds think alike, when my lamb was nearly cooked I turned of the Sc and wrapped the pot in towels to keep it cooking a bit longer and the lamb is perfect. i must make a hay box of some kind. Was thinking the old duvet I have could be sewn into some kind of bag if only to shorten the time I am using electric. Worth a try and nothing lost as long as its not pork or chicken that could be dangerous if the temp is too low.
