Just hoping everyone that has to go out in this awful weather stays safe.
Hugs and Love to all xxxNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch
Fashion on a ration coupon 2021 - 21 left0 -
Stiltwalker - Sending hugs to you and your family
Kidcat - Eeek, sorry to hear your son is ill, I hope he makes a quick recovery and that no one else catches it!
I don't know why I'm up this early, I don't normally get up until the early afternoonOH had to get up for work at 6:30 (he usually does evening shifts) so I gave him a lift and for some reason didn't feel like sleeping. Watching trashy early morning TV with a cup of tea

Having a coffee at present, first warm beveridge for over a week(if you dont count cup a soup)
No room in the freezer but I thought it was good value...a new product from the Aunt Bessie Range...a kind rustic mini roasts(potatoes)£1.99 in Tesco's, In Herons...£1. Heron's also had(Serves two)beef casserole or chicken casserole with herbs, veg and gravy or a white wine sauce £1.75. If split that's approx 85p a meal. Don't suppose I could make that any cheaper starting from scratch.
In the charity shop I did buy a grey patterned tank top for 99p.
To clean the washing machine(and possibly other things...)I bought my first soda crystals and white vinegar(I think it's the right vinegar)it's called distilled malt vinegar with none of the normal brown colour.
Got a couple of red onions and a bag of ordinary onions.
Really thick 3 ply paper towels by Regina(normally £3)available at £1.50 in Wilkinsons.
Found a free four week(2 hours)course to introduce you to cooking and how to have a balanced diet which I almost was thinking of going to but I know most of what they'll cover and have enough books about such things and there is so much on the net plus all the tv shows...I'm not sure it's worth going...
I also found a befriending service for older people who have come home after a hospital visit(4 hours a week) which I might like to think that I can manage but as I have difficulty mobilitywise, they may want some shopping doing though I am good at shopping for bargains, I might struggle but I could give companionship to someone and if lonely perhaps a chat is all they need.
It's social contact but again in my situation doing that may be a problem if I am affecting the rules that govern my entitlements for the sake of offering to do such a small amount of hours but as I said elsewhere thinking or trying to do something does not mean that you are able...
Heard some pretty scarey stories about Voluntary Work and how it affects people when I got into a conversation with someone at the CS. They've stop recruiting at present because of how things are changing. But lets say many of the things we worry about on here and support each other over, I can say unlike that song "Things Can Only Get Better!"...it ain't!
We'll just have to see as happens with Fuddle, they are ideas that give you something to think about.
Hope the Birthday bash is still going ok FuddlePopperwell wrote: »Anyone drink/use Alpro. I have never ever purchased it, don't think it's cheap to buy so being thrifty perhaps not such a good idea but their website has lots of ideas that could be adapted for breakfast and probably ordinary milk could work.
Does it have it's own taste? Is it similar to pouring yogurt?

Pops, I'd go for the course if you can as it will be a chance to meet new people in a limited situation - if you don't like them, you don't have to see them again!
Alpro - their soya milk is nice, but we use supermarkets own as its cheaper. Their hazelnut milk is gorgeous though! Scrumptious in hot chocolate :-)Ginny, glad all went well, well at least you can put a face to the posts now, which is very nice, its hard to visulise who we are all writing to..........
Been dam cold today, in as much that the heating had to go on this arvo, hubby feels the cold terrible,I was ok outside working but when you come in its a bit nippy, plus today weve actually had a bit of much needed rain, I dont think it went down much it was only a constant drizzle for few hours..............Also had cloudy skies......
I shall still have my bedroom window wide open tonight, cant sleep un ventilated......
Gald to see WCS posting again today, I knew she wouldnt stay away.......:)
In Ipswich, we had drizzle all afternoon & evening, then it poured with rain at night. Washing in the airing cupboard, on the clothes horse, over a door...
My desktop computer was playing up, but 1 of my lovely brothers in law fixed it (he took out the faulty graphics card, & set the motherboard to use the onboard graphics - I know what he did but wouldn't have a clue how to do it!). He'd got DS1's ticket for games workshop games day yesterday in Birmingham, so when we gave him the money, rounded it up to say thank you.
Could do with getting some fruit & veg in the way home from work today but we'll see what the weather is doing... Don't want to go to L1dl, apples there last week were horrible. I really want to go to the 'local' independant greengrocer, several people have recommended them for cost & quality. But local means about a mile & half, on the wrong side of a busy road... Could bus there & home again, but then I'm adding £3.60 for 2 bus journeys to the cost of the veg. Will try to cope till Wednesday.0 -

Still ok here apart from light drizzle that started at 6am. Dreading what's coming later, but I will be sat in Ikea drinking tea and eating cake with the rest of the MSEers at the Preppers thread meet so I will cope0

Shegar you are more than welcome to our rain.
I am so fed up with it.
The saying here is if you can see Pendle hill it is going to rain and if you can't see it it is raining.

It's been tipping down for most of the last 24 hours down here, but there's a bit of light glimmering gently on the horizon now. Hope it stays - I have to drive 40 miles down the coast for a meeting, over some of our most impressive hills & clifftops! Stunning views over Lyme Bay on a good day, scary, scary crosswinds on a bad one...Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Cold and drizzly here but that's nothing unusual for September. The worst of the weather is supposed to hit late afternoon, I told both kids to take their phones and if it was both raining and blowing a hoolie by the time schools came out I'd come and pick them up. The cats are all looking grumpy though, two of them have gone into DS's unmade bed and are trying to suck out the last remnants of the residual heat. Mad Kitten is keeping warm by running around as usual.
Better go have a shower...Ikea at 10.30.:)Val.0 -
Tipping it down here but not windy. Still feeling bleurgh (and getting pretty sick of it now) so am going to have a relatively easy day and leave some of the mess. DH has an interview this afternoon for a job completely unrelated to his career - not sure if that would be a good long term move but hey a job's a job isn't it, if it were offered.
Stay safe everyone if the weather is bad. Just saw a woman was killed in Kew Gardens by a falling branch, so if it's bad don't go out unless necessary.0
