I just tried making a sponge cake in the halogen.......it didn't work well. Never mind, that's what buttercream and jam were invented for; collapsey cakes!

We've just had a real, proper storm with high winds, thunder and lightening and sideways rain. It's blown itself out now but it was very cosy with the smell of dinner cooking, the lights on and the rain lashing down.

Just heard from a friend that her hubby is going down to a three day week, it will bring them under the tax credit threshold so a double whammy.

Just delurking quickly to say my condolences to SoftStuff - I will be thinking of you and your family.

I too would love to hear how the meet went... I am about 25 miles out of Manchester but I commute to work there so could possibly make a meet sometime - if I can overcome my social anxieties enough!

First of all thank you Byatt for passing on the sad news and hugs to Softstuff, my heart goes out to you and yours. your MSE family will wait to hear from you xxx

Well the meet up went exceedingly well, will post on the WSHTF thread too. I have not laughed so much in a long time. Very interesting people, knowledgeable about prepping and all very very O/S. PAH is amazing, so well read on the subject and organised, and of course our Smileyt, you can't keep that girl down for long. A very interesting couple turned up who like a lot of us make everything themselves that they can.

We intend to meet again in about a month- 6 weeks so hopefully kidcat you will be better and Lisakay and homerdog will get there too. There was no doom and gloom, most of us were doing it out of necessity and against financial distress. we talked about all kinds of things not so much about how much we have stashed or what to do when the world ends just shared ideas, information and discussed how each persons prepping was dependant on their personal situation.

all in all a useful and pleasant way to spend a gloomy cold Sunday when I would have been sat here on my tod. x
