Morning!
((((the Cake)))) for today. Hope your wanderer turns up Pooky.
Glad the Mater is doing well GQ!
Totally zonked - we did our first 'corporate' event last night - cooked for 100 party-goers in Tenby. Very good experience, and we had a lot of good feedback. As we were totally winging it (never cooked for so many in such a short time) I was pleased with how it went.
Tenby however is a total nightmare. Twice now we have driven out of town and ended up on the alternative road (aka 'the road from Tenby to Hell') that meanders all the way around the coast. Ok the first time we did it in the daytime after a nice day sightseeing, but at night after a heavy frying session, was not a joke. I cannot work out how we end up taking the wrong road out of town, it is a puzzle.
Going to tackle the egg mountain today - some scotch eggs will be made and other egg-based goodies depending on how much energy I can summon up. TBH I fancy loafing on the sofa being fed choccies by a tanned young thing, but there's only so much of that sort of life-style that one can take :rotfl:.
ETA: Congrats Monna!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Congratulations monnagran
And what a timely post, DS14 has been sent some work to do by school, on irony, understatement and exaggeration. It seems both mum and dad have understatement down!!
Looking at the work they have sent I now understand why he doesnt feel the need to go back - one of the pieces of work is so badly written within a big powerpoint presentation, I wondered if one of the year sevens had written it. Littered with errors and unclear ideology.
Statements he is supposed to interpret but they are so vague its impossible to know without context. DD17 is fuming - I however am very calm and will forward the work onto the welfare officer to show her.
Next week he will attend a study group nearby with two teachers, they will administer some assessments and also oversee work that school have passed on, they will also report back to authority on the work, whether its appropriate for his needs and if its explained properly. There could well be some red faces next week.
I now have a dilemma, its finally been realised that DS8 has not had his second MMR booster, and whilst I am 90% sure that the MMR does not cause autism there is a little bit of doubt along the lines of what if I am wrong, and giving him it makes him regress.
Am waiting for dentist appointment, I have one for tomorrow but really need seeing today,my face has swollen on one side and the swelling is moving down my neck. Moving my jaw is hurting too. Dentist say they will call if they get a cancellation for today. OH wants me to go to hospital but I feel its overkill.
DD17 has returned to doctor today as her infection is no better and the doctor told her on Monday that she must return today if its no better.
Planning a no spend day here, providing I can persuade OH to cook from freezer. I have a duck defrosted from DS8 mishap and no idea what to do with it - any ideas for cooking?0 -
Mrs C do you use a sat nav? I seem to remember that there is a toll road near Tenby and it could be that the sat nav is avoiding the toll.0

Glad it went well Mrs C. Have a bit of a rest though!
Congratulations Monnagran on baby Mia (lovely name, though I am biased as it's what we almost called my DD!)!
(((hugs))) for you today Cake. : (
Pooky hope your kitty has returned.
Fuddle good luck with the birthday preps.
Another bleurgh day here, am totally fed up with this cold. DH still not got a revised date for either 2nd interview which is frustrating, but did get called for interview on Monday for something else. It's a slooooow job market out there, that's for sure. Had a frustrating conversation with MIL last night, who seems to still not understand that we are surviving solely on my part-time salary and our ever dwindling savings. Ho hum.
Kidcat that's so frustrating re. DS's schoolwork isn't it. I have confidence you'll sort it out though. Sorry about the tooth, is it worth phoning the dentist again and saying unless they call by lunch you're going to have to go to the hospital? They might 'find' a slot.
My imagination is running wild on what mishaps DS might have had with a duck though.0 -
((((cake))))
Lisakay hope work is not to arduous. Biopsy's can knock you for quite a while, remember even thought its tiny bits of you have been removed and body does not like that.
Mono Congratulations to all the family on the new arrival.
Just received my renewal quote for house ins and am very pleasantly surprised as its £75 less than last year, its via our building society. Will check all the sites but past few years its been cheaper by £400 - £500 from everywhere else. They also don't charge if we pay monthly unlike most either although hoping to pay it all out of next months wages if can budget right as its just doable at £145.
My prepay cert runs out on the 5th but due to get next lot of meds next week so thinking of not renewing it till end of month. Am seeing Dr after smear, receptionist when I phoned was really good and searched till she could combine dr and smear on same morning (can book Drs appointment on-line but not nurse)so plan to see if Dr can or will give me max meds to delay renewing it as long as possible. As some are control class A drugs I know can only get so many of them at one time but will see what she can do.
Woke up achy but a bit better today so hoping to get out of bed longer than an hour as not managed that since last Saturday.
Sunny here and doesn't seem to cold, I have window open and draught not to chilly.
Right will go and check out house insurance.

Possession - He let freezer door open so loads of food defrosted, used a big chunk yesterday but am left with a whole duck to cook, never cooked one before so have no idea, was going to just roast it but in some ways it seems a shame not to do something special with it as we never have duck normally.0

Hi Kidcat - no, not using GPS, just our wits, which obviously failed! There is a toll, it's over the Cleddau Bridge at Pembroke.
Jut looked at the map properly and worked out why we are getting lost - the road we want is not the 'preferred route' to Pembroke so the signs don't tell you that it is the way to go - we have been caught by this before, so infuriating!
This looks like and easy and flexible recipe for duck, and you could cook and freeze it and have it later, crispy duck pancakes are yummy!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Opps Mrs C meant to say glad everything went so well last night.
Mono also forgot to say I love the name Mia.
Kidcat am here if you need me please remember, sending healing if that is ok to you.
For those that know Manchester where is there to park near Dale Street/Oldham Street on a Sunday? Long, long ago I used to know Manchester so well, but only been to outskirts for many years now so all strange.
