tryingtobethrifty - I would complain higher, there is a new policy surrounding bullying which all schools should have adopted, its been a while since I attended training and it was just coming together then so should be in place by now. Our council has an antibullying panel who work closely with schools and other groups, its led by a police officer. Its likely that your area will have something similar.
Thanks Kidcat. Do you know where I would find information on the groups? I have read everything to do with bullying and my council but can't find any panels and don't know who to ask. Who's higher than the Dept of Education?"A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others" Barnyard the children's film.

tryingtobethrifty wrote: »Back on topic..... did you see the Dispatches documentary about Poundland and how things look good at a pound but are actually smaller than some of the supermarkets so not as good value? And that the "get so many free" are actually not free but just to make you think you are getting a good deal. For example, buy one pack of choc fingers get one free (£1 obviously) but in Tesc0s it's two packs for £1 anyway so just the same.
I'll be checking sizes in future when I buy things.
So sorry about your main troubles:(
I had reasons to feel I wanted to take things further about a worrying time with Mum but felt "where can I take this?" so I understand your frustration...
I haven't seen the documentary but hope to, it would not play last night but i did hear some of what you mention...when I have been in PL I haven't found much to interest me and worth buying. Not sure what that says about me. When Aldi opens here I'll use Tesco's, Aldi and Heron mainly and food is my main spend and luxury I guess above everything else. I'll look into Lidl's if there is one nearby.
We don't have one in this town. I wish we had a Farm Foods or an Iceland here but again you have to travel out of town if you want to go to either of them.
A question Quorn seems to have to be kept in the freezer but if you plan to use it within a couple of days could you risk leaving it a fridge otherwise I'll have to wait ages and clear the freezer out...
I'm going to reorganise my fridge/freezer and transfer what I buy into food storage boxes that are uniform in size or feezer bags so it has more in it and its easy to get to everything and put dates on what I have..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Thanks all of you so much for your kind messages about my catto - planning on spending some quiet time together between now and Thursday, hopefully he will not lose his purr before then. Many of you have so many much heavier burdens to bear, and do so with courage, humour and resourcefulness, you always have my greatest respect ... I love this forum, a group of kind and supportive virtual friends. Surely one of the best uses of the wonderful internet?
Hugs all round, the cake xxx0 -

Thanks Softstuff, (I'm sorry you were a victim of bullying - it's awful).
I moved ds as soon as it got bad and is doing really well in his new school so I know I did the right thing. He isn't affected at all by it now. I just feel all this talk of anti-bullying/racial policy is just hot air. It makes me cross, but I'm not much of a fighter.
Thecake, how lovely, nothing you are going through is too small/insignificant etc if it affects you somehow. I'm glad of this forum too.
I'm going to bed. Tomorrow I have a craft class to go to, I'm excited about. I will tell my friend about the email and then the rest of the day I am going count my blessings, smile and be jolly.......I'll let you know if I succeed tomorrow:rotfl:"A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others" Barnyard the children's film.

GQ and the chardlings ... sounds like a rock group!
Feeling very sad as I have booked the vet to come on Thursday to come and put catto to sleep: he has an inoperable tumour and has been steadily losing weight. He is now very thin indeed, so I need to act before he goes weak and wobbly, as I know that will make him feel anxious. He has been a great friend and companion through some horribly tough years, and I am determined he will not suffer. I tell him every day how much he is loved.... he is very clingy now, so I think he knows.
I feel your pain. I had my little man PTS the day before my sons birthday last year (27th Sept) so will soon be the anniversary and there hasn't been a day I haven't thought of him
On his death we decided to foster cats and in the last year we have rehomed four and we have Benny at the moment who has lost an eye. His passing made me think and in turn we have done some good but it still hurts
Hubby went collecting dogs since his death and we now have three, would be four if I let him :rotfl::rotfl:
Went for a walk up the posh end of town to do the posh charity shops and stand and drool over the posh cake shops. There was a lad f ing up and down the street shouting "if they don't gimme my f ing money I'll put the f ing windows through f ing t ***s that's my f ing money so the better give me it" He barged through the crowd knocking people out of his way and a young girl ran after him giggling and looking at him in awe.
People like him are why tax payers are turning against people on benefits because there were 50 more like him hanging around all with a fag and can of beer in hand .
Thankfully I only go into town once a year if I'm unlucky

Morning all just a quickie from me just sent DS2 off to school for an hour :rotfl:is it worth it?? DS3 is still snoring he has to be woken at 8am on the dot or else  so just making some plans for the day..
Still have some bits to finish up in the garden but its chilly again so plan to stay in my nice warm kitchen and do some baking although it may be a bit of a challenge as I'm not smoking indoors now and will need to pressgang someone into stirring..should be fun! (is there a thread for burnt pans???)
Have a great day all XXX0 -
Westcoastscot, I already have two degrees, a BSc and a Masters. Unfortunately they are absolutely no use at all in the jobs market. My main problem is that I just don't have enough mental energy, and if I do anything that is in the least bit pressurised I fall to pieces with stress and depression. I spend a lot of time feeling like a complete wimp, it has to be said, and pretty useless to boot. I need a lot of 'down time' and unfortunately our society has no use for people like that. I doubt anyone on here is thinking, "Oh, pull yourself together, woman," but in case anybody is, I would just say, I would if I could, and I have tried! I do sometimes wonder what the point was in God giving me brains if I didn't get the wherewithal to go with them ....
HiSmiley,
Hope you understand I wasn't trying to be anything other than supportive - I totally understand how you feel, I need a lot of downtime too and getting a balance is really difficult. I sometimes think it's easier out here in the country as part-time working is the norm, it being more usual to have 2 x part-time posts rather than one full-time here. Makes it easier for me to just have one and potter on.
Good luck!
